I'm really disappointed with the Bombcast crew this time around. With their whole "Anime is for jerks" attitude and Brad's previous comments about TERA, they have no place telling people how they should think. Why can't they just accept that some people don't like furry art? They sound like they want to force-feed this game down everyone's throats regardless of their preferences. They can go and talk about how they dislike certain art styles and communities but as soon as they vilify other people that do the same, they become hypocrites.

For one, they don't hate art styles, they hate bad versions of art styles. It's like anime vs aniderp. Everything can be done right, and done wrong. In this case it's a beautiful game filled with fantasy creatures, good animations, generally pleasant voice acting and great gameplay to boot. If you, as a gamer, deny yourself of experiencing this game because of a tiny internet culture you obviously know nothing about - but have heard is icky from trolls or ignorant people - you indeed need to reassess your priorities, 'less you love your ignorance too much. Therefor the GB argument of getting the fuck over it and enjoying life still stands.

If everyone focused on everything negative in any culture, bit it a tiny or a big one, we'd be really screwed.

I was one of those who didn't like Patrick on the podcast or even on quick looks. But having him back was really refreshing to hear. I'm glad he is doing ok. It's like Ryan said, he really has become 'one of them' so to speak.

Good to hear :) Every girl (excuse me, woman) in my life that has had a chance to try Dust:AET has been immediately drawn by the art, whereas it's more of a polarizing thing for guys. Many of my aesthetic decisions were to appeal to a different audience than your standard white American dudebro gamer.

I don't know if anyone notices but @patrickklepek straight up says right after their discussion on dust and how people are stupid for dismissing it for it's art style that he did the exact same thing with Darksiders

People going out of their way to disprove the fact that Dust's art isn't furry art are more ignorant than the people railing on it. The game's creator is a furry artist from Deviant Art. You can find his work very easily.

The reality is that a lot of people don't like the art style and they are completely entitled to that opinion. I know plenty of great anime series and visual novels, but I also I have friends I wouldn't recommend them to because I know they don't like that kind of art.

I have been coming to Giant Bomb since it started and this is the first thing that has made me remotely upset. Usually they're the ones talking about how crazy people are for clinging to certain games and defending them unreasonably. Now they're the ones doing it.

The primary issue here is that they are outright saying that people not wanting to play a game because it's not to their preferences are insane. They are praising Dust to the point of fanboyism and while their opinion is completely fine on that end, them essentially attacking people who think differently is not.

You're absolutely right that they can do whatever they want on their site, but that's getting into straw man territory. I come to Giant Bomb to listen to duders having fun and amusing conversations about video games and other random crap, not to hear them staunchly defend one silly game and call everyone that dislikes it "insane" or a "crackpot". Also, their examples are horrible. Women in games are not the same as furries in games. Women are not an art style. Patrick goes on to say it's a "baseless argument". There is nothing "baseless" about not liking a specific art style. Again, I couldn't give two fucks if they want to spend an hour talking about how good the game is, it's when they start ranting about people that don't like it that it becomes ridiculous.

This is the first time I've seen them get so wrapped up in one game. They talk about their personal obsessions all the time and it's usually light-hearted and funny, but this got way too militant.

I hear you but it's when its drawn in the same way that gets these grown guys excited (either sexually or otherwise). To me its obvious just looking at the art style that its different to Disney or starfox.

Sure some people will says its all just talking animals but I'm certain that the animators for Robin Hood weren't designing it for their own excited selves - it was mainly cutesy fodder for kids.

People need to stop talking about Dust's art style. Nobody on either side of the argument is gonna convince anybody at this point so just leave it be. If anything this guy deserves some more credit due to all the work he was able to accomplish. Besides, there are too many good moments in this Bombcast to focus on that small part.

edit: I knew Paul Walker was destined to be a soldier. Or maybe all soldiers should be more like Paul Walker? Gonna have to think about it some more.
