Giant Bombcast 09-17-2013

I was distracted during the ad intro so for a while I thought they were talking about some square enix project with the nintendo store jingle in the background. Maybe Square Enix makes websites now, I don't know.

It was like 30 seconds, it was kind of funny, and it helps them stay in business. You don't think "God so annoying" is maybe a bit of an overreaction?

me and spiders have a pretty good deal going they get to do what ever want in my house but if they come within arms reach they are going to die.

Yeah, my rant is a little silly, I've been finding myself getting aggravated listening to the bombcast when current game talk happens a lot lately and it's really quite ridiculous. So don't mind me.

It's just an odd situation where Jeff's 5 stars almost seems begrudging, where he recognises everything it does exceptionally but didn't really feel it outside of one or two areas.

Ads are worth it for the return of the download music. Heck, put more ads in.

Very appreciative of the ad-free version, even though I actually enjoyed the ad-version. Nobody delivers podcast ads quite as funny as Jeff just did. Plus, it gives a bit more context to the jokes.

I share Brad's sentiment that LA Noire is potentially the most interesting groundwork for Rockstar to build upon for a future game. LA Noire was, of course, a busted mess in several ways, but even despite all that i still think it worked extremely well when it did manage to work. I think the Rockstar A team working on a detective game of that basic type, regardless of setting and time period, could be a great thing and i would be thrilled to see them fulfill the potential that LA Noire had.

@brad About eye cataracts(I think that's what you guys were talking about), they basically do it as you described. I work in a hospital and actually see this get done on a regular basis, they have a camera right up close to the eye and it is put up on a big screen. It's the only thing in the OR that is actually hard to watch for me haha. They do not put the patient under via anesthetic, but obviously they can't feel anything, a lot of times they don't even realize it's being done. It only takes about 20 min., then yeah the patient basically just walks out of there, but the eye is bandaged for 24 hours, so even if the patient needs both eyes done, they only do one that day.

Having them make fun of the fact that they have an ad is worth the price of admission.

I usually hate seeing adds on stuff like Podcasts, but it helps the Giantbomb crew to keep this thing profitable then I'm 100% behind it. I love listening / watching your stuff on a weekly basis.

Vinny if you want a GTA 2040...hope CD Projekt pulls off the open world they say will be in Cyberpunk 2077. Similarly, that setting DOES have single lens glasses...though generally it also involves removing both your eyes...

i feel kind of petty about this, but adds on the bombcast just really rub me the wrong way. dunno. i'll shut up about it now.

5 stars doesn't mean perfect and that's a sentiment that of people need to divorce themselves from. Almost there isn't a single game that comes out that doesn't have SOME flaws (besides Earthbound, the only perfect piece of entertainment ever to exist), so the notion that 5-stars has to mean total perfection would mean that NO game would earn it.

Ads? I can hear CBS suits creeping in...
