Giant Bombcast 11/24/2015

Hot topics this week include airsoft, stuff in Jeff's garage, the new Bloodborne DLC, PlayStation 4 PlayStation 2 emulation, messing with the Steam Link and Controller, Xbox 360 memories, and more emails about synthetic weed than you ever thought possible.

The Giant Bombcast is the world's most beloved video game podcast, and now it's available in video form.

The thing that I really dug about playing on a console compared to my PC was the immediate put the disc in and play the game logic. it's a pity Microsoft and Sony are on a mission to make the CONSOLES more like a PC. Pity :(

I'll buy SOCOM II HD for whatever amount Jeff. I'm sick of all the fast paced shooters of the last 10 years.

Ya know i had to come back and post here because Dan's weed story is one of the funniest and most ridiculous things I've ever heard on the Bombcast and would definitely be filed under "best of the year" material. Like what the FUCK?!?!?!? I've done weird dumb stuff like that too so I really related. It was an amazing story. I also love how the fake weed had a Sonic The hedgehog logo. That synth weed would have cured your anxiety alright. Cured it to the moon.

I was surprised to discover that I'm not the only Australian paramedic who listens to the Bombcast.

Classic Jeff touching things in his garage again, what a coincidence that those items just happen to get discussed on the podcast a few days later...

The lack of FO4 coverage on this site is kind of crazy. The longest discussion pertaining to it was on the beastcast, and it was critical of Bethesda's business practice. I know these guys don't have time to actually play any games, but I would imagine it would garner a bit more talk around the shop. Destiny was covered in overabundance, and MGSV had several UPF's and Bombcasts. Seems odd to me. Austin said he was in love with the game, had played 70hrs a week ago, then not a peep since. I feel like Jeff barely scratched the surface of the game... I mean the dude used the pipe pistol for the entire game. Kind of proves he has no idea what he's talking about. My wife and I have been playing the game like mad, and the depth of content that continues to reveal itself is astounding. I know it isn't perfect, but obsession over frame rate and clipping is not what video games are about.

What? They talked about it pretty extensively and it is quite obvious only Brad is actually into it and even then not nearly as much as he thought so. I mean they did a couple podcasts where they talked quite a bit about it with the last podcast Jeff explaining some systems and Dan asking "Is this any fun". Then Jeff simply said no. They are clearly not as interested as you or your wife but there is by no means a lack of coverage. It is nice to go to a site that doesn't have its daily FO4 blog.

I've never played Qix but their discussion reminded me of the awesomeness of Jezzball! Spent a lot of time playing that and Scorched Earth in my early computer lab days.

As for not playing the latest in the line of muliplayer shooters, I've been playing Halo Reach on and off since release. Only competitive online shooter that hooked me.

The Steam Machine and Steam Controller hate makes me sad. I got the Syber steam machine from the one-day black friday sale and I love it. It's just really nice to have a home console synced across with my PC. About a third of my games work and I'm very happy with it. The rest I can stream. I'm about to finish Talos Principle, and to me it has fulfilled the promise.

As for the controller, it's also been going great. Talos Principle is a first person game and it feels completely natural to play a 1st person game for me. The key was when they came up with the Mouse Like Joystick profile for the trackpad, which reports itself as a gamepad, but behaves like a mouse. Then it feels like a gamepad with boosted precision rather than a trackpad or a hobbled mouse. Once they did that it really felt like a great way to extend a PC into the living room. I've been playing Cities Skyline with it. Cities Skyline! I've become a fan.
