Hot Take: Bioshock Infinite is still pretty good and the delayed backlash it got is undeserved. Also, the Rapture DLC was awesome, especially part 2.

The second part of the Burial at Sea dlc is the worst. I hated how they tied Elizabeth to the events of Bioshock. Going back to Rapture was great, why couldn't they just stop there?

What is that ''mind blowing''''phoenix down'' '' holy shit'' moment they are referring to in NNK 2? I wish they would stop teasing things like that and simply told us, spoilers be damned.

So...everyone hates BioShock Infinite now? I must have missed that memo.

Everyone hated it 6 months after release. I remember skipping it at release because I found the original to be monotonous. Then sentiment cooled towards the end of the year and I picked it up on sale.

That's when I started hearing more and more complaints, so my expectations went from sky high to pretty darn low. Lucky for me, the game surprised the hell out of me and I loved it so much. I credit the complaining with getting my expectations to a realistic point.

BioShock Infinite remains one of my favourite games of all time. I understand the knocks against it but they don't hold true for me. I really love it

@faridmon: I think it's that the antagonist and the 'president' character from our world called Roland are connected in some way. The antagonist is called Doloran, which is (almost) an anagram of Roland, which I think must have been the "phoenix down" moment.

People turned on it FAST back when it released. I loved it though and it is the only one in the series that really grabbed me the whole way through. I've tried Bioshock 1 and it's good but idk if it's one where I want to go all the way through it.

When does God of War talk end?

glad someone else asked and replied. Listened to about an hour of it on the beastcast last week and that's enough for me. Looks like it could be fun, I'll play it eventually whenever I get around to owning a PS4. However what I hear about all this collecting of shit and some of the combat sounds a bit much and just quantity for quantity's sake.

@joedangerous: they kinda might be left empty handed here because this isn’t at all like those past games. There are elements reminiscent of classic GoW but this isn’t that type of game.

My appetite has decreased so greatly in my old age that I can eat a single PB&J for breakfast and then not eat anything else except for a small non-meat salad at dinner time.

Looked at the title, then looked at the picture, and got the wrong interpretation >_>

Good thing I listened to the podcast and realized the title is from God of war and the picture from VR Kanojo.

On a side note, I have to try peanut butter, jelly, and bacon sandwiches now

Podcast chapters would really make it easier to avoid spoilers. Having to jump around randomly and trying to guess what the discussion is about sucks. The Beastcast added a note when the GoW discussion ended which was nice.

I look forward to VR Kratos. The game that lets me get up close and personal with the demigod himself as I teach him Honors Environmental Science.

You could be attacked by multiple enemies in Batman Arkham games since after the first one, from behind and from range and from off screen or just by multiple melee dudes.

Wasn't aware that the "general consensus" towards BioShock Infinite was that it sucked. I knew it had its detractors, but I still remember it having a lot of praise. I played it a year after it released. I definitely wouldn't say 2 is better than Infinite. Minerva's Den is great, but base 2 is pretty lackluster. I remember coming out of the final fight and being confused that that was it.

But all the BioShocks have not been great, in my opinion, when it comes to the full package. The stories range from good to great, and the settings are phenomenal. However, the combat was always something to just slog through to progress. Exploring was hands down my favorite part of each of those games. The intro to Infinite, when you're just walking through Columbia and stuff, is by far my favorite part of that game. Same goes for its Burial at Sea DLC - perhaps even moreso, since you get to walk around Rapture before it goes to shit. It was fantastic. My hope for a new BioShock is that it would have a setting that is inspiring enough to want to explore it.

Shenmue II was on DC in Japan & Europe but with Japanese audio only. Don't think it had a release in the U.S. until the Xbox. I'd really like to play the first game with Japanese dub, the original English was fucking terrible.
