Níðhöggr is a serpent (or maybe a dragon) who gnaws at the roots of the world tree, while Jörmungandr is the World/Midgard Serpent.

The former also has a place in the underworld, where he chews on the corpses of some of the more heinous criminals, and has an ongoing spat with the eagle who lives at the top of the tree (the two use a squirrel that runs up and down the trunk to carry messages, in what I consider a prime example of how charmingly silly Norse mythology can be at times).

The latter is the child of Loki and a giantess, who has a role in Ragnarok and is the particular enemy of Thor. It features in several tales of Thor, and the two are destined to kill one another during Ragnarok.

Side note, glad to see more use of the face cam on the producer during these things. It's easy to forget that Jan is there, since he's busy running the show and doesn't talk much, so having him in frame is great.

So...everyone hates BioShock Infinite now? I must have missed that memo.

I've worked for a major game publisher and the numbers showed that only 10% of the users actually played the single player campaign . This was 3 years ago. I'm not surprised that publishers have been trying to get away from it for some time.

Video has to stop and buffer every 30 seconds. Did some troubleshooting, only GB and Gamespot. Netflix 1080p working great at the same moment. Is this the CBSi CDN issue?

Not really sure why Jeff thinks Bioshock Infinite's ending means the stories of any future games mean nothing. There is a multiverse, sure, but the stories of each individual universe matter in the individual universe, so the stories do in fact mean something, whether they ever bleed over into each other (the way they did in Infinite somewhat) or not.

My take on Bioshock: you almost have to ignore Infinite's ending. What that series is, is the weird and fantastic setting, the (at least somewhat) intelligent story with some quasi-philosophical overtones, and the magic and guns gameplay.

Set it in the desert, in the arctic, in space, underground, whatever - just make it "alien" in some way, and throw in the idealism and failure that makes a dystopia and you have your setting.

They've done Randian Objectivism, they've done a mishmash of classism and racist ideology, they could delve into dadaism or abstract metaphysics, or something. Get a good writing team, and there are all kinds of similar but fundamentally different and unique ideas in the Bioshock story structure.

We don't need any more Booker or Elizabeth. We don't need whatver his name is from the first one. We don't need time travel mechanics, we don't need bubble universes, we don't need connections to previous games.

All this said, I don't expect another Bioshock game. I just expect some dystopian sci-fi shooter with the Bioshock name stapled to it - them talking about The Bureau is maybe a bit prescient.

This was the best God of War coverage I've read or heard anywhere. Jeff did a great job digging into why the combat opened up for him, and the specifics of what this game does that's so unusual or competent.

Right. It's like finishing a book and thinking "I enjoyed this. Oh, this was a fictional story? Stupid!"
