'Hottest mess' is likely to garner at least another hour of Fallout 4 and Tony Hawk 5...EACH.

Tales from the Borderlands continues to not get it's due. There is at least one moment in episode 4 that should have at least registered in best moment or sequence.

Not to mention having the best title crawls of all time in videogames.

95% of these GOTY deliberations consist of people bringing up a specific game, and then saying, "I don't actually want this game to win, I just wanted to mention it."

I feel like these would be half an hour if they listed only games they actually wanted to argue about.

Anyone have the time stamps for when Best Moment begins and ends? I've skipped around in the previous casts when I think spoilers may be coming up but I don't want to risk accidentally jumping into the middle of that segment since I'd imagine it will be spoilers throughout.

I think I know a way to make these deliberations easier on everyone involved. Stop inviting Brad.

Best Debut is a very great and thoughtful conversation. Lots of games get their dues.

SOMA's story? Excellent? The game spoils itself within the first five minutes and remains thoroughly predictable throughout.

I do agree that the computer use and the mechanics in the world looked super cool, though.

I don't understand why they're so amazed by how easy the level building tools are in Mario Maker. Obviously the reason for that is that it's a simple 2d platformer that doesn't let you do anything crazy besides place their 50(or however many there are) objects/enemies down on the grid.

The reason LBP's level editor is more complicated and needed a bunch of tutorials is because it has a ton more options and types of things you can do besides just running and jumping. People made full on different types of games in those editors.

Obviously they like the simplicity of making the Mario levels better than those other games but to act like it was just because Nintendo designed it super well or something to make it simple compared to other games seems disingenuous, it's obviously because the game and levels are much simpler.

I've almost had zero problems with Fallout 4 on PS4. I guess I'm just lucky?

It's about 4 hours. Someone mentioned that when Brad posted the picture of him editing 18 hours of podcasts it also showed the runtime of the individual episodes. I haven't checked for myself though.

@based: It's such a big game, with such wierd bugs, that everyone's experience will be different. I loved the game on XB1 [1], but definitely ran into more bugs than I would put up with in virtually any other game. Few examples:

• Frame rate in areas of Boston are BAD. Most of the game is fine (not spotless), but I avoided the main built-up area of Boston unless I needed to go there for a quest. The frame rate was consistently low enough that it was terrible to play [2]
• Multiple crashes back to the Xbox dash when loading a new area. Can't really recall how many times it happened, but it was frequent enough that I was quicksaving before opening a door or fast-travelling.
• Settlement happyness requirements are arcane at best - Going for the Benevolent Leader achievement appeared to be only possible through shear luck or a complete idiotic settlement design (multiple level three Clinics, and just standing around/sleeping for literally in-game months as the meter slowly grinds its way to 100. Travelling away would make the game forget about some of the beds, tanking the happyness meter)
• Generally jankiness and bad AI actor behaviour. Clipping issues are par for the course, in certain areas (e.g. USS Constitution) your companion will repeat the same line over and over again (the example given is a quest area, so Bethesda would expect you to spent a reasonable amount of time there), and your companions, whilst well written, can be an endless source of fustration. The main example I had was whilst disarming a sequence of laser tripwires, Nick V. decided to stroll past me and trigger the next one along - turrets are activated, and I lost about 20 minutes of progress.

It's not a bad game by any means, but IMO that is in spite of the major technical issues with the game.

[1] Its more FO3 essentially, which is fine IMO. Main story isn't great, but the world is well realised and the companion characters are fantastic (FWIW, I never had/used a companion in FO3 - I somehow didn't realise it was an option until near the end of the game and DLCs)

[2] I had no way to measure, but I played Dirt2 on a laptop that maxed out at about 20 fps in a 640x480 window. These areas of Boston felt worse than that.

I'm really surprised how much GB likes Grow Home. It seemed like a cute and well made, but unremarkable game in pretty much every other way.

Life is Strange drops the ball pretty hard in the last chapter.

Best Moment or Sequence begins around 1:45:00 and is the last segment (roughly two hours) of the podcast for those wanting to avoid it.

So no need to constantly jump back and forth to avoid the entire segment.

So they just started talking about the last category (best moment) and there's still 2 hours of the podcast left.

I can't wait for GBeast to finish Life Is Strange and realize it was the best game of the year by far. Nothing compares.
