I call bullshit on Ryan's additions to the Battlefield discussion. Battlefield in general is immensely harder to get into, be good at, and have fun with than any other competitive multiplayer shooter that has came out recently. Not saying it shouldn't have won, because i agree with that decision. But saying that BF3 isn't downright frustrating to play online is a load of junk.

I'm really confused about the Northies section.

Aren't the spheres in Portal 2 only heard during the final boss for about a couple minutes? So the loud music, explosions and the fact that you are trying to beat the boss quickly means that you can barely hear what they are saying. The only reason I even know about the spheres and their funny dialogue is because I went and listened to them on Youtube afterwards.

I don't see how that's the best use of Nolan North in a game. Unless I missed something major in Portal 2.

I would also point out that BF3 on PC is broken as far as I'm concerned. I can barely connect to a match and when I do, 50% of the time it disconnects before the match finished. That right there means that BF3 doesn't even make my top 10 games of the year.

Couldn't agree more. But it's more of how it's used as the catch all excuse of "It's all, just, like, opinion, maaaaaaaaaaaaan."

due to the large size of the maps it makes it extremely easy to be picked off by snipers from across the map as soon as you spawn. Also, when the game first released the flashlights were op, you shouldn't be able to be blinded by flashlight in broad daylight. That may have been patched though, i haven't played the game since release.

I'm surprised that these guys haven't seen what EA is doing to Bioware. They are trying to turn them into "Blizzard".

Blizzard is the MMO titan and RTS titan.

EA now has Bioware in front of the hot new MMO and in a little while they will be attempting to put them in front of a hot new RTS.

Dead Space 2 getting it's props! That game deserves more recognition that it's getting.

Btw no Ryan, Witcher 2 isn't a huge world. It's 3 linear environments. Essentially its a bunch of corridors with high res textures decorating it. I think you guys should have actually played more of these games before sitting down to talk about them in depth.

On a related note, why is Gears of War 3 not in the competitive multiplayer list? I think its a better package than even BF3.

Man, I'm really getting tired of people giving Bioshock: Infinite a pass and saying it isn't really a sequel. It takes place in an isolated, American-created city, involves a civil war stemming from radical political ideologies, has one hand dedicated to plasmids and the other dedicated to weapons...

If Infinite isn't a sequel, then Black Ops wasn't either.

Competitive multiplayer doesn't require online though. Seriously :/. And the online does suck in all of those games. (nor does giantbomb care about those 3 games. Maybe Street Fighter but that's not really a 2011 game).

Not that I think it would win or even be nominated, but just a tiny bit surprised that Child Of Eden didn't make their best looking game deliberations, even as a mention. I mean, space whale people! That game is how I show off my home theater projection system...

Incredibly sad to not see Ghost Trick get any mention for Best Looking Game. Would it have a chance at winning it against The Witcher 2, Dead Space 2 and Rayman? Not a chance; but it would've been nice to see it at least mentioned, cause damn that 2D character art animates well.

I'm playing Skyrim on my super rad PC which plays it on high at 60 fps; no way does it look as good as Rayman, uncharted, witcher 2...

N-no....no....A lot of the big sequels this year were creatively bankrupt and lazy. They're letting developers off to easily.

@DexterKid: I think Deus EX Human Revolution, Alice: Madness Returns, Catherine, Shadows of the Damned, Battlefield 3 and Outland all look markedly better than Skyrim. And so do their picks. Glad they didn't let hype cloud their judgement on that one.

Sure, if you care about "getting good." But it's incredibly easy to load up Battlefield 3, jump in a jet and have a lot of ridiculous fun. If you want to get "pro gamer" about it, then maybe you're right but on a pure fun to time spent scale, Battlefield is second to none.

Anybody feel like everybody forgot that Deus Ex came out this year?
