I can appreciate the editing if that means this will be structured like a TV series. I want credits at the end of every episode.

Anyone wanna make a bet on how many episodes it takes for Vinny to figure out that he keeps the auto-stabilization on while trying to turn, and that's why he can't turn?

Vinny keeps getting strange orbits which fly above/below the elliptical plane because he's just randomly tilting at launch. You want to head due east (hdg 90 deg. on the navball) to get a nice orbit headed the right direction.

Hey vinny, your fuel lines keep getting disconnected because you make them with a sharper than 90 degree angle. They get disconnected every time you reload.

Also, symmetry isn't always the best idea if the craft isn't already perfectly symmetrical. The fuel lines going into your central fuselage from your liquid fuel tanks aren't symmetrical, so one side usually got connected and stayed connected, the other side did not. You were constantly jettisoning half full tanks throughout the video. Driving me insane :P

Also, the first stage boosters are going to get you to 75ish km. If they don't get you there, add more boosters. You should not be using your liquid fuel rockets (second stage) during your climb. They are incredibly weak and you're essentially blowing half your fuel instead of adding one more booster.

Another tip: The lander should be short and fat. Landing a rocket driven hockey puck is easier than landing a rocket driven candle.

I love these videos. Please make many more.

Austin's right on how you really go to the moon, btw. There's two parts of it, the "LEM" (Lunar Excursion Module) that went to the moon, while the CSM ("Command/Service Module") stayed in lunar orbit. When the LEM took off from the moon, it docked with the CSM which returned the astronauts home.

Watching this is god damn torturous.

Vinny and his 'get stuck in and figure it out later' attitude is very endearing and great for a lot of games - but is almost certainly the WORST approach humanly possible to aeronautics and space travel. 99.99% of actual astronautics is planning and only 0.01% is execution.

But hey, it's funny to see them fail so I guess the feature is doing it's job.

This is why Austin is the best addition to this. He still keep the funny but asks Vinny questions like, 'How are we going to get back?'

Vinny, you beautiful bastard, what have you done to all those poor Kerbals?

Also, I really missed Austin in the first one. Super happy to have him on for the foreseeable future.

The editing was minimal and great. It didn't bug me last time around, but it felt a lot better this time, regardless.

Don't be afraid of putting more boosters on! You can counteract the squirrelly-ness with other things!

Please stop using the term solid rocket booster and liquid fuel rocket engine interchangeably! It's very confusing for us, and for all three of you on the video! Austin was talking about one thing whilst you thought he was talking about another thing! Things!

Also, you should totally forget about your "asparagus staging" with the fuel tanks and the fuel lines, scrap all that and just leave them directly connected. They'll still share fuel and just drain as one big tank, from top to bottom. Your current thing is way too complex for the stuff you're trying to do! If you really wanna stick with all those fuel lines, then you should really be using multiple rocket engines all firing at the same time, not just one! Think of the bad efficiency you're doing!

You used editing better this time around! Yay!

Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon!

Things

Here are some ways to help you with your distance to the surface of the Mun issues!

I was hoping the 'coming up on...' was going to be actual footage of Neil Armstrong on the moon saying his famous line, just with Vinny dubbing in himself saying Kerbal instead of man. That music was epic though, good stuff.

I think the main thing that vinny is missing is that different engine types are better for different atmosphere levels. For example, a less powerful engine may give him better fuel efficiency once in space. Also, with the way he is doing it he should probably start his turn before reaching the very top [when he just goes straight up like that I mean]. Do it a bit before it.

Also, yes having a separate lander is a thing you can do, and can save drastically on some areas of fuel, but..... yeah don't do that I can't imagine them having to manage docking... You can get to the mun relatively easily in one craft in this game without that. You can very much do separate landers and rovers and all that.... but I highly don't recommend it right now, because if they are still working on this part, having to dock and whatnot is going to be difficult for them ten times over.

It just should be known it is much easier to get to the mun the first time with just one ship, no separate lander. However, it may be a good idea to have more engines of different strength in different stages [having a high efficiency engine for the last stage[As in the small ones]], and so forth.

Asparagus staging is great, but you have to do it with purpose though.

Don't gang up on me everyone.. but I found the two man team on this feature a refreshing change of pace for the Beast Crew. Austin is cool, I have no problem with Austin, I'm not a bigot, racist nor do I want him off the site - none of that. I just enjoyed the slightly more laid back rapport between two people, instead of the slightly more chaotic three-way.

Just my opinion though. I enjoy everything else they do together as a team.

I've got more hours in this game than I'd like to admit and this series is both incredibly painful and incredibly hilarious to watch. I'd provide advice but I doubt its wanted- after all, the fun is watching them try and figure this stuff out! It's a bit disconcerting hearing them say the word "Munshot" over and over again, since my name is a pun on "moonshot" in the first place.

However, I have some very very important info for Vinny:

You can change the color of your lights by right clicking them in the editor.

Rock(et) on.

Alex admonishing Vinny's rocket control with a total mom yelling at a baby trying to touch a hot stove "NO NO NO NO NO!" voice while Austin shouts in complete terror....this is everything I love about Giant Bomb.
