Kerbal: Project B.E.A.S.T: Part 08

This series is awesome, guys. I like that you laid out a specific goal at the very beginning. The series has a focus to it that most other videos don't. Its been fascinating to see the growth of your knowledge about actual space flight. Compared to where you started, you almost sound like you're launching a real rocket, now.

I really want a Kerbin Space Memorial for Project B.E.A.S.T. A virtual one at least, with fake marble and flowers and static shots of optimistic Kerbin contrasted with their tragic causes of death.

This is a great series

This game appears to depend in large part on Vinny being able to not hit a wrong key for two hours.

I am not optimistic.

Time warp accidents are an important part of Kerbal and it's important that all your viewers have learned this lesson with you.

Also aim for 30k or so into Kerbin's atmosphere. A little pod should be able to survive that! If you are going too fast or too high you could burn up or skip back out of orbit.

What an emotional roller coaster ride!!! Whew I'm drained

Well thanks to this series I've felt the need to get back into KSP. I enjoyed playing it before but I was barely able to get into Kerbel obrit. I mainly just had fun playing around with rocket designs.

However using just the tips I've picked up from the beast crew watching these videos I was able to safely land and return from Minmus. Now I need to try a Mun landing. And before anyone asks I went for Minmus first because I thought it looked cooler then the Mun.

Anyway @vinny and co, keep up the great work. Your failures are inspiring!

I've got hundreds of hours in KSP and I still make that same mistake sometimes. Totally believable that it was unintentional

I studied orbital mechanics in 3rd or 4th year physics and still didn't really get it properly until I had a few dozen hours in KSP, it is all far from obvious

Another instant classic! This series keeps getting even better with time, I just love it.

Hopefully they'll keep it going for quite a while longer.

I think if this series was made entirely in 2015, these guys would have had an argument for KSP occupying all the slots for "Best/Most Memorable Moment"

I know that feeling of failure at the 11th hour all too well, @vinny@austin_walker@alex. It made me think of the last FTL run I did before shelving that game. Died with a maxed engine and shields to last round against the final boss while he had 1 HP left. New High Score! at least, right? Feh.

I am so glad the end of this episode cut to black because otherwise I literally would have had to just walk away... IT HURT SO BAD

RIP KERBALS

I was legitimately angry after Jack exploded. After all that, for Vinny to crap it away with a wrong key press... oh, it was so aggravating. Because I would've made the same panicked reaction. The ending was hilarious to me, though. They finally noticed that one guy who got his orbit fucked by various bodies of gravity, and stopped paying attention to what was actually happening. The punctuation mark of the game crashing couldn't have been more perfect.

That ending was just heartbreaking.

Best content on GB hands down.

Please never stop this series.

SO CLOSE!!!! This might be my favorite content on the site for a game I have absolutely no interest in playing myself. Can't wait for episode 9

As soon as they zoomed out to the map during time-warp at the end, I knew it was all over... VINNYYY.

Love this series so much, makes me want to jump back into kerbal and do it all again from scratch. We all need wingmen like Alex and Austin to shout at us when we press the wrong button.

Playing Gravity Rush Remastered while watching this and I'm just baffled how you can have so much trouble with gravity. It's easy, just gotta hit that RB! :P

Well.... what did we learn?

Its like the game didn't want you using saves.

Vinny is getting a physics education out of this.

Even if they disconnected that last stage properly it still wouldn't have worked. They were punching through that atmosphere way too hard. Don't return to Kerbin on a collision course. You want your Periapsis to be like 50 meters. From there you let the atmosphere and gravity pull you down. Even with a heatshield you can't punch through it, it's too damn hot.

Vinny is a lovable but terrible pilot. The number of fuckups because he waited too long to decelerate, or in this case waited too long to slow down time warp, are astounding.
