Mario Party Party: 4 - Part 01

I feel like now that Jeff has made the implication (however joking) of a New Game Plus of all Mario Party games, there's no way they'll be able to get away without doing it.

I'm with Jeff on the crazy food stuff. Once you put things together that are too disparate in taste, the resulting dish is not a unified flavour. It's not good or hilariously bad, it's just two different things occupying your mouth at the same time.

I had my first experience with his when I went to one of those semi-upscale burger places with 100+ burgers on the menu. I chose the "crazy" peanut butter and banana burger, but I was left disappointed. It was just banana then peanut butter than ground beef flavour in my mouth in sequence. Waste of time.

This was pretty great; felt like the last one kinda dragged.

And Jeff pays Dan to do this to them.

I mean, just look at it. Every section is distinct from one another, and its simple layout makes it easy to understand which roads connects to each section.

That said, I enjoyed this Mario Party Party, and I'm looking forward to see the fifth part in this epic saga whenever they are ready for it.

@raytien: I don't hate Mario Party, but I believe these games are generally pretty bad, which makes it more enjoyable to see the guys suffer through it.

I think Dan in correct in saying there is a skill aspect to this game, however that doesn't make it a skill-based game. There's a skill aspect to playing professional poker, bluffing your opponents, running numbers in your head, but ultimately it is still a chance-based game. The fact that the core portion of the game is controlled by a random dice roll ultimately makes it a chance based game. It's as if you played Monopoly, but after each turn, you played Rock-Paper-Scissors, and the winning player got $1000 in the game. Just because you added this extra skill layer aside from the actual board game, it doesn't change the fact that Monopoly is, at it's core, a game of chance. In fact, given the correct occurrence of dice rolls and hidden blocks, a high-skilled player can be defeated by a newbie through no fault of his own, without losing a single mini-game. Through pure chance.

tl;dr: Mario Party is a game of chance with skill elements, not a game of skill with chance elements.

Watched the first ten minutes then fast forwarded to the last ten minutes.

I'm glad I tuned in live for this. It makes it that much more enjoyable when the epic moments happen! The last 10 minutes of this thing were just bonkers and it looked like Dan had genuine upset at the bonus star section and what looked like complete delight on Jeff's face. One for the ages, fellas!
