Mass Alex: Mass Effect 3 - Part 22

My memory of playing through this was that if it was supposed to be fan service then I was likely not the kind of fan that they were aiming to serve. The switch in tone and character discontinuity didn't feel satisfying to me at all.

I don't give a two shits about the tonal dissonance and the Whedon script (though I do rate Citadel below Shadow Broker) because this was the last piece of work ever done on this trilogy and by god I'm going to let the writers have fun with all these beloved characters.

Luckily I like silliness, and while some of this didn't land for me I still enjoyed it, especially because back when I played ME 3 it was a rental and I never got any DLC.

Also, the toothbrush as Chekhov's gun bit was super cute, dammit.

Huh, I totally misremembered how this dlc ended. It was kind of shocking to watch the end of this video that I went online afterwards and looked up walkthroughs of the Citadel, just to make sure that there weren't like multiple endings (there aren't)....

Anywho, still wanted to suggest that Alex go back and switch his bonus power to dominate (the reward from the other dlc). It is basically a mind control power and in my opinion the best ability in that game.

Please, please, please fix Alex's mic. It hurts my ears.

Say what you like about the quips but Kaiden mumbling, "Seems like I never get picked" is legitimately great because he's Kaiden and, therefore, never gets picked.

It's not the end of the DLC. There is still the whole gameplay loop on the strip where you hang with the crew (I'm suspecting that Alex will miss a couple of things there) and then party, and the somber yet hopeful scene right before everyone returns to the Normandy.

I'm glad you did this DLC now instead of later on. People talk up the party a lot, but really this mission is an important part of why Citadel is a huge love letter to the series as a whole. Yeah it's a tonal shift from the rest of the game but that's why it's important. It's hanging out with all these characters we've grown to love over the series and giving us a way to remember them in a positive light rather than covered in the bleakness of ME3's main story. Maybe that wouldn't have been necessary if the actual ending were better received, but it's what we have and i'm happy with it.

Good stuff, but cheesier than I remembered.

Can't hear anything Anderson is saying. They always keep the game dialogue so low, but it's funny to hear Alex's out of context reactions to whatever was being said.

"Turians?"

"Mmm-"

I really wish Vinny would have told Alex the context that this was made after the game came out and is a bit tongue in cheek, and not to be taken that seriously. Alex thinking this is all "real" will probably lessen the enjoyment.

Wow, some of the line readings in this episode were so odd. Reading the subtitles you can understand the inflection they were intending, and the voice actors just... do something else. Great episode though, very fun DLC to play through.

I really want to control the speed of these videos! They are too slow sometimes. I love the content but I do not have the time to keep up. Please add a speed select like in the YouTube player. Please add speed select to premium content!

This seems like a very fun DLC. If this and Leviathan was included in the actual game my opinion on ME3 would've definitely been better.
