Just beat this game earlier tonight. I think this game has the hardest final boss of all MGS. Really requires skill.

New better call saul and new MGScanlon. Today is the best day :)

Man I forgot how long and redundant the phone call with the president was.

As someone who's seeing MGS for the first time like Drew, I can't really get over the dialogue. Specifically the way the protagonists simply repeat the last word they hear to ask for an elaboration. I suppose it is a joke at this point, but it's annoying rather than funny.

That is a super short AR-15 with a beta-mag (100 round magazine).

Since that is legally defined as a pistol you could have both as long as you live in a less restrictive state without any tax stamps. Of course it would only be semi-auto, but it sure would look cool.

The bullets tumbling in air is a nice touch since short barrels can cause bullets to destabilize in the air.

As I said in the last video it is really silly that this game thinks taking the slide off a gun is destroying it. That is more or less field stripping and guns are designed to be easily taken apart to some extent for that purpose.

not sure how i feel about Dan constantly telling Drew to kill people given the effect it will have later on in the game(both on that one boss and on bonus items), he should at least let him know that its maybe not the best idea to kill when you don't have to

@drew@danryckert The health system is that you'll regen health depending on your stamina. If you've got red it's an injury and it will regen much slower unless you cure it.

Drew should go back to the Sokolov area to get the thermal goggles

Well, Drew is already better at CQC than I ever was.

Just my two cents, Dan is really forcing his playstyle onto Drew aggressively. Dan should let Drew play the game how he wants. If he doesn't want to kill everyone, why make him do it?

Also he's gonna have to fight like 900 guys in the Sorrow fight if Dan keeps up with this.

It'll make that one boss fight hilarious because of the numbers involved. This is a good thing.

Drew really should try to defeat bosses by going for their stamina though. I think he would find the bonus items to be a lot of fun.

Too bad Dan didn't know where the thermal goggles were. It looked like Drew was trying to get in there, he just wasn't hitting the button in the sweet spot to get the locker open. Luckily he'll have another opportunity to get them in an upcoming area.

Why is Dan so violent?

Drew could just hold R1 in all the cutscenes, that way he won't miss anything.

@clush: In Japanese, repeating part or the end of what somebody said to you is a way to show you understood/acknowledge what they said. In most games that stuff would translated to just generic responses like "okay" or "sure", and MGS1 did a much better job of rewording things to sound more natural, but MGS2, 3 and 4 are translated very literally, which is why you constantly get that repeating of words and phrases. It's annoying at first, but more-so bad translating than bad writing, and you get used to it eventually.

@danryckert Dan, you should ease up on Drew and stop forcing your lethal playstyle on Drew. He even commented on it at one point, "Dan who is playing the game?" Even though he's not the stealthiest guy sometimes he seems to be okay with just CQC slamming people.

Also some hints/advice:

It is possible to wake up sleeping/unconscious guards: All you have to do is just kick them awake. To do that is to just do a normal CQC combo (The punch punch kick combo) and the third and last kick will wake them up. One kick won't do so it'll take a couple of kicks.

Tell Drew to to keep in mind his camouflage index and to change out camo often. He's lucky there aren't any sentries in that swamp area or else he'd be spotted looking like walking brick wall. The sooner he gets this mechanic down the better.

You can also increase your maximum health bar by natural healing: As evidence in the video, if you get an injury and don't cure it right away (leave some red bar on there) over time it'll heal by itself and your health bar will increase by a bit. If you cure right away you'll lose the potential to have an increase in health.

One last thing, when Para-Medic was explaining how sleeping rests your body and how saving = sleeping? She MEANS it. If you save and quit with a sliver of HP, if hours goes by and you come back and continue your playing, you'll find Snake having full hp recovered. Additionally if you only come back 10 minutes later and resume your save, Snake will most likely have not recovered any health.

(You can also game this mechanic by setting your internal clock ahead a couple hour,days or even weeks)

Not sure how I feel about how overbearing Dan is being about giving Drew play-by-play instructions about what to do in all these situations, but at the same time Drew seems a bit reluctant to take time experimenting on his own since he's on video.

Note: You can totally aim down the iron sights of the assault rifles while in first person mode, that would probably help get a better sense of what you're actually aiming at with those things.
