Edit: Dan is the reason I stopped playing competitive once I fell below 45. Also the kids yelling at people like Dan for fucking around also suck. It creates the prefect storm of bull shit.

Haven't been able to go back to this game since competitive mode launched more or less. Not sure what it is but the game just had no legs for me at all. Even this update hasn't gotten me to try it again.

Maybe when more maps get added...

@hassun: Same boat here. I kind of expected that to happen for me though, it's one of the reasons I was reluctant to buy it regardless of the fact that a lot of my friends were buying it (all of whom have dropped it already as well.)

It's a fine game, but it's not overly engaging beyond TDM style play at objectives. The other thing I found interesting is I went back to BF4 and man that game made Overwatch feel like it moves at a snails pace. I already knew it wasn't a very fast game but I didn't expect BF4 of all games to feel significantly faster.

I was just listening to Avenged Sevenfold's Nightmare album this morning.

@hassun: I felt that way on PS4. I felt pretty checked out, then I got the pc version more or less for free. I'm all the way back in. The update changes the entire way a lot of the characters feel, Ana and her ult shake up the balance and it just feels like a way more aggressive game.

I honestly don't get why they make fun of Reaper so much, as if the developers wanted you to actually take his character seriously instead of it being a caricature like everyone else in the game. I know that they are aware of this and yet?

@ivdamke: I think the lack of servers and the communites around them also hurts. I played 2000 hours of TF2 and through some great servers and experiences in that game I met people I'm still Steam friends with to this day and talk to regularly.

It's an extremely polished game which has somehow grown stale for me in a very short time. The last time this happened to me was Titanfall where I had no desire to play more of it after spending a lot of time with the beta.

@humanity: Making fun of Reaper is more playful than anything else. But I think Blizz didn`t really nail the caricature with Reaper so he pretty much just ends up being the kind a not very funny "dark" character that`s very easy to make fun of.

@hassun: This has been a general problem with FPS games ever since the primary platform focus shifted from PC to consoles. I definitely share that sentiment though, I made friends in CS:Source around its release, I still talk to those people almost daily despite still not having met half of them in person. Going on 13 years now.

I've said it before and I'll continue to say it forever, matchmaking systems replacing server browsers for casual play destroyed FPS communities.

Ana can't headshot. Makes her less snipery which is good.

FYI headshots don't do any more damage or healing with Ana. You don't have to be an excellent sniper to play as her.

@ivdamke: I definitely think it had a major impact.

I'm bored of this game already, I think the map design is really bad, I find the characters too one note and the modes are boring too. Give me player created maps, player made items and more character abilities and customization. TF2 does it so much better, but that game is 9 years old now and my time with it is long since over.

I would just love a server browser where players can do whatever they want to the server.

Oh right. Overwatch. Man this game super died out with my group. I'm not too into games like these, but I believe in Blizzard to keep adding on and adjusting this game to make it great. Considering I play a shload of D3 still, I'll have faith.

It seems like Jeff is the only one that pays attention to how games work. It's refreshing to hear him speak about things that I'm screaming in my head while watching these.

Yes Dan the payload heals you. Listen to Jeff he has a lot of experience with games.

@amyggen: I don't see how they don't nail it? He's comically dark from the outfit to the voice to his ultimate. It's goofy more than anything else and I seriously can't comprehend how anyone would perceive him as the "grim unfun guy" as opposed to that funny "grim reaper" guy.

@humanity: I just don`t think it`s a funny take on it. I get what they`re going for, but it just falls flat for me. Making fun of the character is more funny than the character itself to me. Different strokes and all that I guess.

@nagafen: TF2 was also really bare bones at launch though, expecting this game to have the amount of features that a nine year old, now free to play game that is constantly updated isn't fair. If you don't like the characters or maps I totally understand not enjoying the game but feature wise it's not a great comparison. I'm by no means saying overwatch has enough content right now, it really doesn't but most people (myself included) really enjoy the basic gameplay and don't mind the lack of content because of it. I know Blizzard will support the heck out of it so I didn't mind buying it this early.

Why make a video showing off new characters and features when you don't even understand how they work?

Never really understood people who think this. The devs have been clear from the start in saying that the heroes come first, and it has 22 of those, plus free maps, skins, heroes, etc. -- forever.

22 distinct heroes alone is a staggering amount of content, honestly.

Adding TDM and/or some other, lazy, throwaway modes would totally defeat the purpose. Just like there's a reason the weekly brawl is just fun for 1 or 2 matches, the game is built around and perfectly tuned to 6 vs. 6 payload/control point.

@amyggen: Sure! The disdain, if genuine, is a little weird to me thats all. I don't love all the characters but I don't think I actively dislike any of them from a design perspective.

Oh, I don`t think either Dan or Jeff has genuine disdain for the character, it`s just that it`s funny to make fun of the character being the kind of character who listens to Avenged Sevenfold etc. If we`re talking designs we dislike, I think the only one is Pharah for me. But I seem to be pretty alone on that one!

Oh man this is some great Overwatch with Ana. 2/3rds of the video was Reaper/Winston.

@hassun: OW has actually driven me to get back into TF2 after not playing for years. I enjoy OW and all but can only play it in smaller spurts before getting bored. I think it is the limited maps really making the game feel tedious to me after an hour of playing at a time. Also I really enjoy some of the more mechanics heavy stuff in TF2 like rocket jumping and the overall more deathmatchy feel to it. But seriously, more maps whennnnnnn?

Some corrections: Ana can not headshot, ever, you'll do same damage/healing no matter where you hit. The sleep lasts for 6 seconds, or until target takes damage( I believe Lucio's Sound Barrier also snaps people out of sleep )

@nime: The lack of maps has definitely been a major detriment for me.

Dan has played for over 30 hours and still doesn't know that the payload heals you.

Why am I not surprised? :P
