Giant Bombcast Pre-E3 2011 Edition

Hey guys, decide: are you talking about the love for videogames or the business of videogames?
Because, likewise, if you're praising the genius of Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin, you don't praise Justin Bieber or Britney Spears' sales in the same discussion. It's either one way or the other: quality or quantity; both is hypocritical, in my view.

Love Pachter's idea. But yeah they're right, Nintendo won't give up soon. They are the only gaming-only company now.
 
EDIT: It will be someone who works for Sony Music at that special event.

I love Michael Pachter.

I think I rolled my eyes so hard at this podcast that I broke them. I can't believe how console-centric you guys are becoming. Hearing Pachter talk at lenght about how the future of gaming is shitty iphone games just makes me think that gaming is dying and that I'm seriously starting to outgrow this shit. I kept listening to this guy drone on about how hardware was declining and I was like: people will always need SOMETHING to play on, and developpers will always want to push the enveloppe in many ways. Not a single thought or comment was said about PC gaming, and somehow when Pachter asked, I think it was Jeff, at how much of an interval he upgraded his PC, Jeff said 5 years. Somehow this was considered like a good benchmarks for how often PC gamers upgrade, without an ounce of critical thought. I personally upgrade a part or two every year or so because I enjoy playing smoothly with powerful hardware.  You're in the game reviewing business, it's your living, and yet you can't afford to have an up to date gaming PC? It's your work tool, you should be on the very edge of this stuff.
 
The predictions about Nintendo were spot on though. I just dont think anecdotal evidence about his kids should matter at all when talking about gaming trends in general. His kids don't have disposable income, we do.

Pachter is a clown, straight up. Making rushed assumptions, stereotyping demographics he doesn't even know and ignoring the fact that the entire world is not made up of just the people he knows and their trends. 
 
There's just no reason to take him seriously.

Ok, i've watched a lot of Michael Pachter on Gametrailers, nice guy, but listening to him go on and on about something that may or may not be true is not fun. And that is putting it nicely. As seen in the video, he often says completely wrong things.

I guess I didn't see this was here, awesome.

I would love to see a video of anyone else's job mashed up like that.  People really need to settle down.  I give props to the bomb squad on getting Pachter.  This was an entertaining podcast!

Fantastic show! I hope this was not a one-time-kind-of-thing and Pachter will be on more often. Truly a great duder.

Sometimes I feel like I'm in another reality when I read some of the comments in the Bombcast section. Do people really love this guy this much in spite of all the crazy and dumb shit he's said and done? Just because people criticize some of the things he's said doesn't mean I hate him and spend my days thinking of ways to bring him down. You guys don't need to act like such sycophants.

Is there a Bomcast today? Not sure what the E3 schedule is, gonna miss it if there isn't.

Blizzard doesn't go to E3 anymore.  They will never let Activision show Diablo 3.

You can say what you like about Patcher but the man knows his stuff.

Is anyone else amazed at how seemlessly Patrick became a part of GB? its like the dood was always here. Like even when he was working for G4 he was actually working for GB, in secret behind adam sesslers back lol.

Didn't think this episode would be as great as it turned out to be.  Guess I just underestimated Pachter's charm.

Just wanted to chime in and say, while I think Pachter's career is junk (analysts are often wrong), he is a great guest.  Having him on more often would not be a bad thing. 
 
Does anyone else think his voice sounds a lot like Snider?
