Guys making vids - the only thing your gonna be able to pull off in the short time is funny.

Makes sure your scene has a beat to it - something at least reasonably funny happening regularly throughout.

Unless your costumes, dancing, jumping around like an idiot is funny to people WHO DONT KNOW YOU, dont bother including it. Especially with the costumes, unless they are quite good, they just take away from the video.

Choose a styles and theme for your video. Choose something that is a nice balance of easy to do, and effective. Film Noir is a good example. Easy to record in black and white, a couple smart short monologues to the camera, a couple voiced over still shots, and your video is gonna be presented well enough to deliver on the funny.
