Quick Look: 3089

My favorite part of this game is the boring human names all the NPCs get.

Ugh, I'm so sick of procedurally-generated worlds. They feel so soulless. :/

Are the low fidelity graphics supposed to be art direction or are they just bad because its procedural?

So is this the beginning of indie games replicating the PS1 early polygonal look?

Also the "combat music" sounds like something out of Batman Beyond.

Regardless of what else you think about Phr00t's games, the stories are godawful.

I like loot, I like robots, but I don't think I like anything else about this game.

Eldritch kinda did that too, even tried to approximate the PS1 texture glitches.

Personally I'm kinda into the pre-PS1 VGA/MCGA polygons, when they had just gotten past extremely simple geometry (polygonal games up until 1991 or so usually just had a flat world with squares or pyramids on them), used some interesting shading techniques and relied a lot on gradient effects and colors, but did not use textures a lot yet, my favorite examples of that style are probably DID's Inferno and TFX:

This game looks kinda neat; the art-style is kind of growing on me. You guys in the comments section need to stop being so cynical about games you haven't played.

Yeah, it was weird at first I hated it, but by the end of the quick look I didn't mind it so much. The loot and proceduraly generated stuff sounds really cool.

The first thing I did in this game was buy a hoverboard and a grappling hook. That's all I need from this game.

Oh please. I understand why you would want to stick up for this game. It's an indie title that is very ambitious and tries things that AAA games are often scared to do. But the game looks horrendous, there's no getting past that and I am not talking about the graphics, I am talking about the game as a whole.

I've decided that I am very much against procedurally generated nonsense as a replacement for actual hand-crafted scenarios.

Sometimes retro graphics just look like shit. Sometimes simple design is just lazy design. Sometimes games are just worth nothing. This game is absolutely just all that.

If it's anything like 3079, it looks like poop but is actually pretty fun.

It's less then some sandwiches, and seems like a decent time. I'll buy it when its turbo on sale on steam.
