@Cyrisaurus: One could say the same thing about any genre. On the surface sure they all look the same but so do most games in the same genres. If someone who didn't know anything about FPS games saw Battlefield and Call of Duty side by side I'd be willing to bet they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Same thing here. There are different systems to learn in the games.

Buying this. Anyone know when it actually comes out? I did some searching online but all I'm seeing is the Japanese version. Release date is misleading..

The release date is correct, as far as I can tell. Gamestop seemed to have it in stock on Tuesday, and Amazon had it on Wednesday. 
 
I picked up a copy from Gamestop this evening after having seen the QL (probably wouldn't have known about this otherwise, so thanks!). Shmups can be hit or miss for me, but I'm liking this game. As long as they aren't too insanely difficult, and not too thematically offputting, I usually have a good time. Recently, shmups like this and Sine Mora have managed to click with me.
 
The systems in the game are pretty interesting, with the collecting of orbs and katanas, and having a summon you can muster up. I had to read through the manual a couple times and play the game a bit, but I think I've wrapped my head around it.

Bullet hell games may not be my think but this looks pretty fun. I've played a trial version of Death Smiles and liked it.

Still one of my favorite 2012 releases. Great shoot em up and Slash Mode is alot of fun once you've figured out the system for the katanas. I hope Rising Star Games keeps putting out CAVE games and STGs in general.
