Muffley Strategic Command. Nice. President Muffley is a character from Dr. Strangelove. Style on the frontend looks amazing but the gameplay is lacking a bit.

This looks pretty awesome, wasn't banking on it being this interesting, but I seem to be pleasantly wrong.

I've been interested in this for a while but waited to see how it actually plays. Looks like that gambit paid off!

e: If Dan was there he would point out how the sound after stealth headshotting is the same sound as when items pop out of bodies in Metal Gear.

i bit my lip when jeff walked right past that one cabinet. in games like this i'm pretty ocd about picking up everything

edit: on the other hand, i can get behind jeff's TAKE OUT FUCKING EVERYONE method of playing stealth games. that's how i play them, anyway. although if i can i try to go nonlethal

I like the look and style, but this doesn't seem very interesting to play. Sort of like a super-simplified Mark of the Ninja. Randomizing the levels was probably a smart design decision, at least.

Weird, this is getting middling reviews all over, and people seem to agree. But I went from knowing nothing about the game to wanting to buy it in the space of this QL. S'pose I'll do some research first in case it's especially light on content or something, but I like the look of the core gameplay a lot.

Man, the mission menu music from CounterSpy has the same cues as the TMNT live-action movie soundtrack, and that is weird. Cool looking game indeed. I like that your health and ammo are pretty important, and don't automatically refill at the end of every mission, but I agree with Brad in that dropping dudes right and left isn't really that sneaky. I hope it comes out on a platform I own soon.

@brad

DEFCON 1 is so bad, it means a nuclear war is about to happen.

DEFCON 1 has never happened. DEFCON 2 has happened though, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

It's often misused in fiction, so it's understandable to think it's the other way around.

Keep in mind reviews are often bullshit, rushed and incompatible with the actual experience anybody is going to have with the game. Heck, the version of this game reviewers played wasn't even the release version. Which is pretty evocative of the problems with critique in this industry. Websites care about hits, not sturdy information, so they get the earliest version possible and play the game as quickly as possible.

This game might not be great, sure. But I think things like Quick Looks are actually a much better representation of a player experience than a review shoveled out by somebody being paid to be efficient, not accurate.

I was sold on this game until I saw their Russian posters and signs. How hard is it to proof read this shit nowadays? Go to some Russian reddit or find an expat, crowd source the fuck out of your foreign language script. This offends me, it really does. Unless of course it's done on purpose which is highly doubtful.

Preordered this because I wanted the $3 for buying this and Hohokum together. Doesn't make sense, but it seemed like a good idea. Totally forgot it was out today!

As a "connoisseur" of stealth games, I really don't like 2D stealth games. Putting a stealth game onto a 2D realm is too constraining, multiple routes aspect of the stealth genre has to be severely downplayed and the AI has to be dumbed down even more in response. What's left is an unsatisfying and hollow experience where the pretender of a stealth game asks me to pretend it's a stealth game as well. Even Mark of the ninja, the pinnacle of 2D stealth games, I found to be underwhelming and unsatisfying.

I do like the artstyle though, that cheesy spy artstyle never gets old.

I know but he could have still mentioned it to Jeff. If they didn't skip the cabinets, they may have had enough for the persuasion darts. Not really shouting/angry at them, just an observation. If I was, there would be a lot more caps and exclamation marks.

You don't get money from kills, @brad and @jeff. You only get money from intel pickups. You can be well on money without killing everyone.
