Recently started this, it's pretty great.

One thing I miss is the ability to actually place objects or lay them down instead of only throwing them around.

Only a couple minutes in and I'm thinking about stopping. Just based on Vinny's description at the beginning, I'm sold on this and kinda wanna go in blind.

Wait... Mongolia? A dome with colored flags?

Kubla Khan's Xanadu anyone?

Seriously though it's a super famous poem. Check out the Wikipedia article.

I hate when people poo-poo all over the concept of "amnesia" as a game device.

All it is, is tabula rasa. The story starts from nothing. Trying to have to come up with some narrative reason as to why you as the player are suddenly beginning the adventure in a certain place is a waste of time, at best, and a detriment to game construction at worst.

It's the same as "a long time ago in a land far, far away". Many, if not MOST stories, don't NEED more than that. In fact, adding more than that is at the detriment of the story. Brevity is the soul of wit, and good design is elegance.

It's a FAR BETTER CHOICE than games in which the player character knows things that the player does not, as many crappy games choose to do.

Liked Gone Home story and setting but the idea of just having to read everything feels forced. At least with Gone Home I recall you were given a reason to look for stuff: you came home didn't know where everybody was. For this game I did not see any intro or anything. If I just woke up like that with no exposition, I would walk around a bit and then wait with my hands crossed until something happens. Gotta give me something, game!

The game seems cool but is there a way to make the text in the game bigger? I can already tell i'm gonna have a hard time reading anything if all of the text looks like it does in the quick look.

The reading stuff is almost entirely optional. There is always a very specific goal that the game very clearly tells you. I went through the game only reading things that the game pointed me to (which wasn't much) and still understood mostly everything.

Also, to those put off by those weird platforming cube sections (they get kinda repetitive after the first few times), you can skip them. The first time you lose one of them (you can lose if there are not enough cubes left in the world to turn in), it gives you the option to skip it.

I finished this a couple of days ago and I really really like the world they made. If you don't read the things around the world you're not going to get much out of the ending.

@austin_walker and anyone else, If you're interested in a anime with a similar theme, that deals with transfer of memories and bodies and their treatment as a commodity you should check out Kaiba. It has a very different more abstracted art style from other anime but it totally suits the theme. The overarching plot stumbles a bit on the end, but the individual vignettes each episode are really interesting.

Some of us can... but only if you're Scottish or Irish really (because the sound is used in some traditional words and names from this part of the world).

Eg: 'Loch'.

I'm loving this game. The 'block mini-game' really put me off at first. But I feel like it just wasn't tutorialized well; once it 'clicks' it's a lot of fun.
