Quick Look: Datura

Lets hope for a endurance run! :D

This looks extremely intriguing for some reason. I seem to always get sucked into under-the-radar games that take chances and are totally out there, and this seems to definitely be one of them. And after reading trip reports on Erowid about the namesake drug, what I've seen here makes a LOT more sense. However, according to the IGN review, this game has about 90 minutes of content which is probably gonna turn me off entirely as money's tight and I need bang for my buck.

Others have mentioned weird and quirky games on the PS3.. are there any good ones that yall can think of? I just got a PS3 (my first console of this generation as I'm usually strictly PC) so I really need to up my library, and these sorts of bananas games tickle my fancy.

@patrickklepek you really need to stop this habit of starting a quick look and just talking over the title screen for five minutes, it's really really bad. It's seriously boring to watch. Show, don't Tell. I think if you fix this little problem then your quick looks will be great!

Well, whatever it is, it sure is purdy. Plus, the music is pretty soothing. I could see myself getting into this for a few hours for the sake of experiencing an indie game.

Man I was really digging the music, and the atmospher seemed cool. I wouldnt mind playing that.

This isn't Arma 2.

Jesus, I don't mind motion controls, but seeing someone else play a motion control game is so uncomfortable to watch.

Looks interesting, only £5 for PS Plus members like myself atm so might check it out

It's not "because of ps3" lol, the other response. That is a general problem I see on the system but it's their new video player in this case. check out other videos, it's the same there too.

It's like the weird part of Mass Effect 3, but with a giant wobblin hand all over the screen, and you can use it to stroke things. Also the camera is SO MUCH wobblier than any sober person's head would actually be. So it's a crazy person simulator. Choose whether or not to chop a guys' hand off? Agreed, the only thing I could think about with the forest were the dream-sequences/"trippin' out part" from Mass Effect 3. Though I am a bit more interested in this game than you, I guess... Sadly I don't own a PS3 to test it out.

Interesting they named this datura. Any reference to tripping in the game? Or is it implied.

This game was a little janky but I did enjoy my time with it, and I loved the one-one precision. I have no clue why they didnt include the nav controller support.

Yeah, i figured, but it's the internet, it's full of dumb ppl, so i just had to make sure.

And yeah, you're right, when i saw that quote, i automatically thought about that game, and...

This strikes me as very similar to The Path...which has been pretty roundly criticized by as directionless...but apparently this one ends, so that's one thing it has going for it.

Also I like that accidentally running over a pig is apparently the same, morally, as cutting off a dude's arm to make your escape from a cop car. Finally, my manifesto has a voice!!!

The gameplay doesn't seem to be stellar, but the environment looks gorgeous, imho.

Motion controls throw me out of a game like this more than immerse me. I'm too busy fiddling with bad controls than getting into what is happening. It also looks like they put a lot of resources into decent textures but gave up on the poly count.

Patrick talks way too 'effing much, about shit 90% of people don't care about. History of the company, blah blah blah. At least PLAY as you talk...

That music is kind of really awesome. It's been stuck in my head all day.
