Having Brad there certainly helped, the tutorials miss out on some fundamentals. This coming from someone who isn't very good at Dota 2. Great fun though, getting that kill is so satisfying.

I really, really appreciate Jeff, Vinny and Brad doing so many quicklooks. I just hope that Vinny is spending enough time with his family.

@y2ken: I'm pretty sure an announcer pack with Jeff in it would just be audio of him yawning.

@phrosnite: Yeah, you tell him! Honestly, I don't get all the Dota 2 hate here. It's like everyone here are just so used to AAA and casual, "fun times" games that when they see a game which are highly competitive and actually requires skill, they couldn't wrap their heads around it.

Separating Dota 2 from being called a "fun time" isn't exactly a compliment. Might be fun to play, but not fun to watch on a daily basis. Just like I wouldn't watch Daily Call of Duty or anything like that.

I feel like for normal people, the fact that a thing says "x pwned y" in the year of our lord 2013 is more than enough reason to not play it ever.

I really can't fathom the shame that regularly playing such a thing would bring, but I know I couldn't do it and face myself in the mirror everyday.

Like seriously brad how can you sleep at night. Monster.

How brave and original.. you really need to grow up man and understand the simple fact that people have different tastes than your own, god forbid, they must be shameful losers because they don't think exactly like you right? I bet some of the games you enjoy would leave others scratching their head too, but you won't see us being such an asshole about it. Reasonable, socially proficient adults understand that different people have different tastes and accept that. It's one thing to not like a popular game, that's totally fine, but to resort to petty, baseless insults of all it's players is just pathetic.

He's talking about "fun time" games as in those games that take zero effort or dedication to begin having fun with which in my experience result in a proportionate amount of reward. Whereas Dota 2 takes a substantial effort to get into but ends up returning a substantial reward to the player. It is still a fun time to play a match of dota but it's not one of those "fun time" games, you know?

Also, I think it is wholly subjective whether or not someone likes to watch it on a daily basis. There is a huge esports movement around this and other MOBA's for a reason and if you just scroll through the spectator page in the client you begin to understand how many people DO want to watch it on a daily basis. If you're not into the game of course you don't want to watch The Daily Dota, but there is a segment of the community here that does. I mean, a few years ago when a friend of mine was still way into CoD, if he wasn't playing he was watching montages or commentaries on YouTube. So, yeah, I think Daily Call of Duty could be a legitimate thing for a certain segment of the GB community. Different strokes for different folks, my friend.

@th3irdeye:

My problem with Daily Dota isn't that it exists, it's that its existence takes away from other potential content that may cater to other audiences. Like you said, Giantbomb is a diverse audience that likes many things and finds other things boring. Giantbomb is essentially only three people now. They can't produce as much content as other sites on a daily basis. I fear that Daily Dota gives them a sense of security, a sense that they don't have to push out anything else other than quick looks and daily dota. They can just say, "Well we're putting out 2 videos a day with a quick look and daily dota. That's good output for the manpower we have!" and then not bother producing anything new that caters to people not interested in DOTA.

My other problem with Daily Dota? It's just "Brad and those other guys." Endurance runs were good daily content because you watched it mostly for their personalities, jokes, and reactions to crazy shit than for the actual game. Even if you didn't like the game they played, you could still appreciate it. And Brad, no offense to Brad, he's always been the informative straight man of the comedy troupe. Him with other people I don't know doesn't interest me. I come to giantbomb for giantbomb. If Vinny, Drew, and Rorie got into it I would watch it most definitely. But as it is now, I just have no interest.

Anyways, I didn't want to make this big rant and I don't presume to know what is going on at Giantbomb right now. It's a tumultuous time for GB and I'm sure they are working hard to come up with new content for the site. I simply wanted to explain why it is people are vocal about their dislike of Daily Dota. It's more than just "I don't like DOTA."

I have the same chat issue! But only on Linux!!

The original Daily Dota chat still appears on my Windows install, but is now filled with spam-kind of meta-data. But I still see my fellow Daily Dota Duders at times.

Not sure what you and Vinny have been doing during the editing process on these videos, but the audio has been really low for the past few weeks. Even with my volume cranked all the way to 100% the volume is pretty low through my headphones.

I wish people could just understand and respect that other people have different tastes and be a little more respectful. Especially people who spent hundreds of dollars on Skylanders so they don't look like hypocrites calling games and their fans stupid ;P

Anyways, QLook woulda been way more entertaining if Vinny just played a match, I'd rather watch him fail miserably and get flamed by a nasely 14 year old than go through the boring tutorial, o well, this game is not suited for Quick Looking anyway.

PS- I want a Giantbomb announcer pack bad, even if it includes Jeff groaning and acting pissed that he's now part of the game he hates so much, that would just make it more funny in this case.

I really hope people are not taking Jeff's hyperbolic nay-saying as something serious....dude is purposefully messing with die hard fans and I can see how much fun it would be to just poke fun at Brad for his love of the game. People do the same to Jeff and he would never lose sleep over it either.

How can so many people feel so outraged and offended by an hour long video that they are not forced to watch? Crazy, wait another few days and there will be another of content for you to watch.

Never watched Daily Dota, this was interesting, good work. Better seeing it like this for someone who doesn't know whats going on than just a big mess of a game when they are all using ridiculous terms and tactics.

I'm glad they highlighted the whole "pwned" thing. You'd think that Valve could stand for being a little more professional rather than living like it's the early 00's.

This is good. With how good so many people seem to be at the game, it's somewhat intimidating to try and get in for fear of being "that guy".

i just started last week. I haven't met any awful people, and the matchmaking seems to join me up so that i'm winning about half the time.

Also I agree about some kind of learning video series. Noone's said anything about resetting the tower's agro in anything I've played. Also unlike Starcraft you don't really learn anything new from watching other people play. It just looks like they're playing the same as anyone else.

This is 100% incorrect, I started playing a month or so ago, and watching other people play/watching replays has improved my game immensely. Although I will admit that it takes reaching a certain point of understanding to get anything out of watching other people play.
