I really enjoyed the one that came out not long after the 360 launch. I haven't been able to capture the magic since that, even if the newer games are technically better.

Oh yes, to the beginning stains strains of Koi Weekend. It's like I never left yesterday at this time..

I haven't played the newer two (yet) so I hope that isn't the case for me because oh wow, that first one at launch. The fun times I had.

@brad: Picking up Armor increases your overall armor level and hitpoints. You to gather as much as possible so you can take on harder difficulty levels to get more powerful weapons to take on even harder levels.

You can destroy all buildings.

The Wing Meter needs to be recharged before you shoot your energy weapons again.

Also, I am surprised that you all hate fun.

I will never understand the appeal of this franchise.

Man the final boss of the first EDF was one of the most intense things in games ever.

Anyway, you can tell this is a new EDF game because the pickups are actually 3D objects with physics this time around, not sprites.

I wouldn't call these great games or anything but they can be fun. There is a grind since you have to farm armor and weapon pickups for higher difficulty levels.

These games scratch the same kind of itch as Dynasty Warriors games for me, just with more ranged combat and explosions. Yeah, they're not super deep. But sometimes you just want videogame catharsis, and flying over a bunch of giant insects dropping plasma bombs on them delivers.

Woah. I just watched Starship Troopers for the first time in like 15 years yesterday and then Jeff pulls out that Buenos Aires reference. =)

I don't believe that's true. If it was or not doesn't equal not being recalled as part of the series and completely overlooked by saying the "last one was 2017" "the last one was 7/8 years ago".

I'm 28 minutes into the quick look. Does Brad ever realize there's a setting for camera rotation speed? What about fencer controls? Or does he just ignore everyone who tells him to check things that might be important?

Brads tunnel vision can be a bit much at times.

P.S. Brad is bad at games.

The Grape and "Map of a mountain 2" had me in tears. I live for QLs like these.

Man, this was hard to watch, which is a shame, because the game looks like a lot of fun.

I've played the first 3 matches / what ever they're called in the first chapter. I have to say thus far i liked the other EDF's better :(

Here's hoping they'll introduce something cool later in the game..

I really wanna get this, maybe after Dark Souls 2.

Unfortunately, Brad is playing pretty badly. He'll complain about the Fencer's vertical jump but never leverages it to set himself up on a perch. He'll try to spin up his minigun when he doesn't have distance. He doesn't check his back. He doesn't level buildings to get at what's behind them. Doesn't use the dodge-roll very much.

Regarding the slowness of the reload, these are starting weapons. The more drops you get, the more options you have. Variants of the same weapons will have trade-offs:

-faster reload /smaller clip or lower stopping power

-smaller clip + stronger hitting power

-rebounding bullets etc

-some rifles will have shotgun-like properties, or be like elephant guns.

You start off with basic stuff. Part of the fun/challenge is getting those upgrades and dealing with their quirkiness until you get ones that are straight upgrades instead of trade-offs.

This is probably a real dumb question since it is an Earth Defense Force game, but are there spiders in this? (Haven't watched yet)
