Quick Look: EX: Shank 2

hope this is better than the first Shank.

LOVED the first one. Really looking forward to the new shenanigans here.

One of the best Quick Looks ever was with Trenched

This looks like more Shank from where I am in the video. I did not like Shank at all, I would go so far as to say Shank is the worst gaming experiences I had this generation.

The one thing Shank was missing was online co-op. So instead of doing that, no co-op at all? Great.

So, they re-worked the controls, and re-did the art to make it look and play the same?

Environments are more interactive.... like in this one part of the level, in this one fight. -_-

Watched 3 minutes and couldn't watch anymore, this is the exact wrong way for developers to present themselves in a Quick Look EX and it's painful to watch.

I'm assuming they're referring strictly to everyone who really enjoyed it and not all the people who found it a mediocre mashathon?

Damn I still love those brutal animations.

Instead of listening to their fans, they probably should have listened to the people who played the demo for five minutes and never touched the game again. This doesn't look like it solves any of the problems I had with the original.

Turns out I really want this.

The atmosphere among the the quick lookers is so tense it will make serious cat green... except for when patrick breaks the ice here and there.

The art looks like Thrid Strike it's so fluid. Still not too into this kind of game, but GOD DAMN it looks good.

Yup. This is why I often dislike Quick Look EX-es. They're gold when it's Johnny V or John Drake or Brad from Double Fine or someone else the guys are friends with. But this stuff is just painfully awkward.

The only Quick Look EX's I've liked are the Double Fines ones. For the most part the rest of them are just too awkward to enjoy.

I'm really not a fan of these kinds of PR spun previews for games. Yeah, that's just the way the industry typically is, but I come to GB for the more candid answers and discussions.

Beyond that, Shank 1 was fun, but I ultimately became bored and shelved it. I get the feeling that Shank 2 will be a very similar experience.

it's always interesting to see when developers/publishers come in with a canned presentation for their game and it directly conflicts with the candor and inquisitiveness of the giant bomb crew.

and by interesting i mean cringe-worthy and eye-roll inducing.

I suppose but it was in such a weird way, he used the question to boast about new features in the game. I don't know, I just found it noticeable.

i relly dislike shanks artstyle the weird animation really puts me off

First one was a great but flawed game, seems like they've made the combat more tactile and hey, who doesn't love a good wave based survival mode.

Will check this one out.

The art somehow looks worse than Shank 1.

Very jarring, the transition between art styles.

Stuff like the explosive barrels look scrawny and have a very hand-drawn feel, and that's fine, but not when you mix it with other stuff that looks way cleaner like the characters and the fire which have a comic book cleanliness to them.

Also, the developers themselves seem extremely uninterested to show how awesome their game is and seem to have no passion at all for this kind of stuff. It may not be true, but that doesn't matter when this is what's presented, right?

Will play if they fix the animation priority in the previous game. Dying because I'm locked in an animation is not fun....

I do not like any of the QL-EX's, including doublefine. I look at them as a necc. evil, but from the very first one I saw and percieved the change of behavior on the part of the staff..never liked them. Especially if they seem partial to the dev.

This makes me want to play the shit out of Shank. I loved Shank.

@WiqidBritt: I'd suggest you either install or try browsers with Ad Block Plus on them. I and others have raised this issue already many times but God forbid they would do anything to improve the user experience for the majority of their members.

I don't like this. It doesn't look at all like a graphic novel, it looks like a flash game.
