Was wondering about spin too (thanks Ryan!), that's a bummer it doesn't have the option. Kinect mode is a tech demo, if anything, in that case.

The menu music sort of sounds like it was developed by a man who also moonlights as a composer for made for tv porn a la Latin Lover. I guess its fitting being a Tiger Woods branded game.

Aside from the menu selection, the kinect implementation actually looks really well done. Not that I would play it with Kinect though.

They keep using the word "Fidelity" and I'm just crying at the lack of jokes being made about that.

Looks good for a golf game. Kinect worked fairly well. The menu stuff is a little sketchy, but not bad. I will probably not pick it up even though I have Kinect.

Sounds like we are getting charged for courses that have already been in the game as DLC

wow... those menus look really hard to control accurately with Kinect. and how the club head would phase into the ground was also a little disturbing. using the Kinect for the swing only might be fun, which is a question it seemed like Ryan was trying to get answered early on, but was kind of talked around. i enjoy golf games and will probably get this game at some point, but i can't see myself using the Kinect with it unless you can turn parts of it on and/or off (i.e. the menus, etc).

So it's basically using motion to determine power, so much faster to say it like that.

I was wondering what would happen if you were actually holding a golf club? granted most of us don't have room in their house to be swinging golf clubs inside, but does anything think kinect would have any idea what it was? If you told me that I could play tiger woods and actually improve my real life poor golf game I might actually be interested.

Right after he says the crowd won't be clapping in unison anymore, it cuts to the next hole and the whole crowd is clapping in unison.

I really hope with a better kinect (maybe with the next console generation?) there will be a way to make the gameplay feel closer to real golf. And I feel like I would need something in my hands that is actually being scanned by kinect and treated like a club by the game, just pretending that I'm holding a golf club still seems weird to me.

I found it incredibly frustrating to make small adjustments while lining up my putt using the Move controller and eventually went back to my main controller. From this QL, it looks like that will also be the case for Kinect, where you can easily over-adjust.

My thoughts exactly, it was amusing when he picked it up because even he knew that. At least there's the option here, though I have to laugh when Kinect is touted as a better way to navigate menus. Maybe with voice commands, but certainly not through motion.

Otherwise, this does seem like a decent enough use of the tech for the actual game. Nothing too complicated for it to handle and they don't have to create weird game contrivances to make it work.

Hearing that there are more courses as DLC than there are in the main game though.. really EA?

Man, the kinect is sure good at slowing golf down... and that's saying something.

I still don't think golf is interesting.

Once again, Kinect proves how fucking garbage it is.

There are practice / training clubs that are weighted the same but half the length for indoor use, I have enough room to swing a full pitching wedge though and was wondering the same. Would holding an actual club mess with the kinect and game in any way? One reason I don't care much for the ps move is that it doesn't feel like I'm holding a club at all.

Also, the main menu in this game has some serious porn-groove overtones.

This actually looks pretty decent. The menu navigation seemed real smooth and responsive.

Get that man a towel, studio lighting seems to be taking it's toll!

This must have been an embarassing demo for the EA guy. First off, it looks like you need a masters degree just to navigate the menus with Kinect, and as shown in this video, they don't work often. About 75% of this video was struggling with Kinect. Another reason why Kinect is terrible for video games.

btw, did anyone else catch that this guy thinks his right hand is his left hand? I guess they let anyone develop games these days

I love Kinect Quick Looks despite the fact that none of the games seem appealing to me. I commend the devs for giving it their best shot but it just doesn't seem like the experience is really made any better. Doing that salute gesture to look into the distance looks downright stupid, navigating menus with more than a few options was tedious (even the developer had a lot of trouble with it) selecting clubs with voice didn't seem to work well, etc. The great philosopher Ian Malcolm would say that developers were so preoccupied with whether they could that they didn't stop to think if they should.

That usually just means that you have to have experience playing the sport yourself in order to really enjoy it though.
