I think I've played a game almost exactly like this about two or three years ago, but it had a different look.

I love video ball, that said I don't think anyone who doesn't have a crew of 4 or 6 people around to play games should buy video ball. First the minor complaint... Why isn't there a back button by default on PC? Any button you press hits the currently selected item.

Major complaint: multiplayer doesn't match you with people on PC. I've tried searching for 20 minutes across ranked and exhibition, solo and team, all match sizes and found one game that booted me out to the main menu after it was over.

Menu music is bumpin' on all fronts.

@aquacadet: Yeah the UI stuff in the PC version is pretty garbage. Can't use a face button to back out of menu so you always have to navigate over to the back option. There's also not a button to quit the game, so you always have to alt-tab and close it. Very obvious port from the console versions.

I've been able to do online matchmaking a few times though, and it's never taken too long, so I don't know why you're having problems.

I have often not ate so I would save money to buy video games in college. When they brought up the 10 college beers worth of video game it brought me back to the most fun I never want to have again... College.

This seems neat in a "I didnt play Sportsfriends either" kind of way, but I'm digging the soundtrack.

I have quite enjoyed Dave Lang appearing on all this Giant Bomb content.

Isn't this the game from that smug kid that annoyed everyone on the chat during a livestream some time ago? Or am I mixing it with another similar game?

@aquacadet: I've played plenty of online games so far with no problem except for noticeable lag.

Tim Rogers considered "smug" and "annoying" by chat. No way!

@johnymyko: no that's the one. But gosh the guy was just joking around. He was wearing goofy sunglasses he never took off-- it was clearly a bit. The chat lost its shit over it and that felt way worse than anything Tim did. Game looks cool though I'm happy it's finally done.

Brad mentioned Finland. I'll be waiting at the market place if anyone's coming.

@nickux: As far as I can remember, those were his actual glasses and it didn't seem to be a bit at all. His cockyness and bad-mouthing didn't come out as a joke as when people like Dave Lang does it. Even if it was a bit, it ruined the flow of the stream. I think you're mixing it up with another dev that showed later with another game, he was wearing shutter sunglasses and vibrant clothes.

Listening to the podcast I thought this was going to be more like Rocket League or I guess 3D arena. Didn't realise it was a 2D game. Looks interesting but not as exciting as it sounded

Wonder if there's a soundtrack. This has some Super R-type style chip tune-ish jazz happening and I dig it.

@nickux: Oh yeah, you're right, that one seemed to be doing a bit indeed. But that was other game, I think it was pixelated and they were shooting something at each other.

Man, the soundtrack in this is pretty damn great. How I wish more games didn't shy away from doing this kind of stuff instead of the generic cinematic blend.

Rise of the Triad and Perfect Dark were pretty rad in that regard, just saying.

@johnymyko: i'm watching the segments from the BLLSL right now. Tim wasn't the guy I was thinking of so I was def mistaken. But the Tim part is totally not what people remember. It really comes off like he's joking around saying things like, "the music isn't great by accident we actually worked on that." Or saying the graphics look like indie trash lol. But I could see how it might annoy someone. I can't hate the dude for it tho.

This game looks really cool, but no one is playing it on Steam, so it'll be impossible to find online games. I realize that I'm only making the situation worse by not buying the game because no one is playing it, but I'm not going to spend money on a game that I'll not get to play.

It really needs a cheap four-pack on Steam or something, so you can buy it and gift the spare copies to friends so you can play with them.

Is anyone else finding the screen shake/zoom a little disorientating? Kind of making me nauseous.

@nickux: I'm assuming it's Tim's buddy and the maker of that Cyberpunk vollyball game. Can't remember his name. He used to run Gamasutra and does a podcast with Tim. He's also very full of himself but also in a kind of tongue-in-cheek way; though he comes across hostile in a way Tim doesn't.
