I've been playing this, it's alright.

It doesn't have 3D because the 3D simply wouldn't work when you're turning the 3DS around, it has nothing to do with being a DSi port. The DSi doesn't even have a gyroscope...

The WiiWare one is fantastic. I'm worried about this one (about to watch the video, so we'll see) because of all the gyroscope use (which worked super well with a Wiimote, not so sure about the 3DS) and because it's supposedly broken down into levels. The original game was essentially a Metroidvania in a handful of really large, open levels with a great sense of exploration. It also reminded me a lot of Mario 64 in that you revisited the same areas multiple times, but completing different puzzles & challenges each time, trying to get more raindrops (read: stars).

There are a bunch of great games on the eShop. The continued belittlement of the eShop is mostly undeserved. It's by no means perfect but it offers a lot more than most people give it credit for.

My 3DS sat mostly unused at first (early adopter syndrome), but thanks to the eShop I've been playing it more and more lately. Downloaded full version of Sticker Star, lots of game demos, and neat little games are showing up more and more. The Download Express still stops at my station - wooo woooooo!

Haha, I hear ya, my favorite pasttime is buying games I don't need. But Lord knows the Wii Shop could use some sales. I think the most recent thing I bought off there was the WiiWare port of La Mulana , which I still can't believe ended up on there, that port was in limbo for the longest time. I'm guessing like 99.9% of people bought the PC version, and I'm the one dude who bought the Wii version.

Speaking of Metroidvanias, if that's your thing, you might be into La Mulana. It is easily the biggest, craziest most open one of those I've played, and I doubt I'll ever beat it, short of looking up a walkthrough. Obscure puzzle solving, along with having like 30 places to go at once, and not knowing if you are legitimately stuck at any given point, or just missed a power up item you desperately need. It also has the weird jumping mechanics of Ghouls n Ghosts. It does a good job of making you feel like a archeologist, exploring the unknown, but it can admittedly be frustrating occasionally.

I believe the game similar to this that ya'll we're trying to remember was Puddle? It's on pretty much every platform at this point, and I think they are working on a Wii U eShop version now. I bought the Vita version, which is neat, and was only like 4 bucks.

Only Patrick continues to belittle the eShop. That's why I'd rather have Jeff or Vinny doing these games instead, instead of hearing Patrick's obnoxiously snarky comments on pretty much everything.

I would fucking hate that; Not remembering if I reviewed a game, or quicklooked it. On the other hand being a designer, and designing like, 3 - 5 signs a day, I totally understand it. Sometimes I will just be walking through the mall, see a sign and say to whoever is with me at the time "I think I made that."

I really cannot stand games like this; the fidelity of control, just by virtue of the physics, is not really that great. Puddle especially was frustrating and just plain not fun because you basically had to get lucky to beat the stages.

Are you sure that's actually the case? I don't recall Patrick belittling it anymore than the others. I'm just glad someone looks at the games from time to time and this doesn't get ignored like WiiWare did in the later years (with all the love that Trials is getting, Brad & Co. would probably have had a good time with RedLynx's WiiWare game MotoHeroz from 2011, for example).

Puddle was a Wii U launch game in Europe even, so they're done with that already. No idea why it's not out in the US yet. But yes, that is the game they're talking about.

Doesn't sound like a complaint to me. Someone has to care about the games that aren't FPS games and racers (thats more of a jab at Jeff I guess).

Alex and Patrick should quicklook games together. I know that's not possible...

Looking at Patrick having to fumble around with the 3DS like that it's no wonder it doesn't have 3D. This game seems like it would have found a better place on the Vita which could have benefited from using the back touch along with the goofy motion controls.

I wouldn't want to play a game like this on the Wii, but it seems like it would be pretty enjoyable on a handheld. I really wish they had a demo available, though. I have no desire to drop $10 on a game I'm not sure I'll like. It really does kill my desire to impulse-buy to see that $10 there, instead of $9.99.

The QuickLook makes it tempting, though. I've never played a motion-dynamic game before, save for some simple cellphone games.
