Quick Look: Forza 4

I'm gonna buy a wheel for this! Come on @Vinny, let's do it!

I presume the reason Top Gear is in both Forza and GT is that, as a publicly funded organization, there are rules regarding the BBC showing preference for one commercial product over another. I'm not sure they'd be legally allowed to enter into any sort of exclusive deal of that nature. I could be wrong, though.

I wonder how someone would play if they drank before starting the game.

I'm not too impressed by the damage effects... I'm not a Forza player, and I crash a lot when I do play racing games :P

At the 20min mark, that section of track is used as the test track for PGR3, I'd like to see a comparison of those famous tracks in all the different racing games that they appear in.

jeff should not be playing forza on easy, and with racing line

its just makes it boring, and thats why it only got 4 stars. with racing line, you are just a robot braking when it tells you and stuff, and jeff actually brags about winning when he has steering assist and braking assist on.

No challenge, wtf is this.

Also the racing line is pure garbage, because you over break each turn, you can go way faster in those turns.

if you are going to comment if its a big upgrade, at least test the new sim mode, well there are better reviews out there, like game trailers one etc... really disappointed by this one jeff. Stick to shooters. Your approach to forza with all assists on, easy ai, and racing line is just dumb for a guy who played games for 20+ years.

As someone who drives a '94 BMW; HELL YEAH, BOXY BEAMERS.

As someone with a newer model Mustang and is 6'2" I have plenty of room in the car. The pre-06 Mustangs were kind of cramped. But Challengers are nice too. And then Jeff can pretend to be LL Cool J on the ride to and from work every day.

Alright, alright... After months reading reviews and watching your "Quick looks", there are a few things to be said:

- These videos aren't quick. Either make them shorter or change it's name.

- In fact, making them shorter wouldn't hurt one bit. Just take away all useless footage (like whole minutes staring at the same menu screen doing absolutely nothing) and spare us all of shallow/pointless/useless/boring commentary. I.e. we don't need to know you like inside cameras because you are a FPS addict. We want to know about the game.

- FOCUS, goddam it! You're reviewing a game here. Pros and cons should be a nice start.

- Demonstrate qualities and defects of the games. Things that may attract or repel gamers.

- Edit your videos. One huge play is boring and make all other tips I gave you almost useless.

- In your edition, do different things. Using always the same guns/cars/levels is as tedious as it can be.

I know I'm being cruel. Maybe I wouldn't if you weren't getting paid to do this. But I'm sure I wouldn't be complaining if you did this right. Or, at least, better.

Oh yeah, almost forgot: crop all loading screens. Unless they actually add something up to the game review (long load times, repetitive, fun, etc.), there's no point showing them.

@AtonGondim: Dude, you're missing the point.

I never pictured Jeff as a Mustang person. I could see him driving a beat up Toyota Corolla or a Honda Civic but a pony car?

@AtonGondim: These aren't reviews. They're about showing a candid view of every aspect of the game. If it takes 5 whole minutes to upload your photos, they're making this video to warn you about that before going in. That's the kind of thing that makes Quick Looks so great, actually.

Wow, I haven't seen someone miss the point so much since everything in the first 40 years of the XX century.

@AtonGondim: The whole point is that it's a quick look of the game. It's not a review, it's not a preview, it's meant to give you an idea of what the game is actually like, and that can't really be done in 10-15 minutes (most of the time). And that's great, because there's no other sites that do anything like this.

Focusing more on specific qualities would turn it into a preview, which is a completely different feature.. and hey, the best parts of the videos are usually just the staff bantering.

Somehow i managed to not play any of the previous forzas' despite being a avid racing game fan. and i gotta say i absolutely love this game. Some of my friends who have never liked a racing game enjoyed it when i showed it to them. and that's saying something considering they didn't like dirt2 or 3.

@thebigJ_A: Really delayed response: The first track that Jeff raced is Infineon, which is actually a NASCAR track (ironic, right?) Anyway, yeah, I agree, I can't understand why people would watch that sort of race in person. They're great to watch televised though

@AtonGondim: Ok, a few things

1. They are, in a way, ironically named quick looks. Yeah, they are far from being "quick", that's the point. They used to be about 10-15 minutes long but you really can't get in everything you want to say about the game in that amount of time. Some people want to see what menu navigation looks like and how loading screens are.

2. We like to hear their "boring/shallow/useless" commentary. It's a game play video, NOT a review. If you want to see a review of the game, read the review on the wiki page that is right on this site. I know this sounds crazy but, some people actually like to watch game play commentary videos where the guy talking is talking non-stop about the game. THAT sometimes gets boring and useless and all those things you just said

3. Why are you even on this site if you didn't like this quick look? I could understand it if you heard about this site and checked it out and didn't like it. Fine, that's fair. But even then, why spend all that time trying to write a harsh ass comment?

And maybe I'm being a bit harsh here. but you need to understand that Giant bomb isn't just like every other gaming website out there who takes gaming way too seriously.They like to have fun with games and have fun when they review the games. Go to ign or something if you want serious game reviews, this site isn't about being the most serious.

Re-watched this to judge if Brad's claim that graphics in these games have plateaued. I strongly disagree, this looks like total ass now compared to Forza 5.
