Have you guys installed the most recent video drivers? Nvidia released their Horizon 3 drivers yesterday and they are supposed to make a pretty big difference.

I have an i5-4690k and a GTX1080. With every single setting at max and frame rate setting unlocked I get between 80fps and 100fps depending on how many cars are on screen at once but If I lock the framerate to 60 sometimes (but not often) it will drop into the high 40s.

Ya, interesting choice as the bitrate is unchanged so it's a lot more "YouTube-y" for lack of a better word.

Ok, so I've been griping about some of the incantations* you need to invoke to avoid stuttering (if the new drivers didn't fix it for you) but even I've not had it drop that badly (into the 20s) while not really doing anything as happens in the start of the video. And I'm running 1440p Ultra (except shadows, they just don't look good at full res - too much flickering under foliage) on an OC 1070.

* eg: set task priority to Low (a trick from Apex that fixes some framerate issues); setting the GPU to run flat-out all the time rather than adaptive power profile; give up on the upgrade UI not being a bad joke about the intern writing shipping code.

Runs great on high with my 970m, I did install the new nvidia drivers though. The Microsoft music app integration is pretty cool too.

I see after Bleach ended Ichigo left Soul Society and took up a street racing career.

This game runs waay better for me (1080p, 70-100fps, very rarely dips to a little under 60, ultra settings, but with msaa at 4x instead of 8x, GTX 1070, 6700k, 16GB DDR3 2800mhz), but I've seen complaints all over the place with different configs.

I've got the specific game ready drivers for the game though, and had to change the power setting in the nvidia control center to max performance, and tweaked the threading optimization. Still need to change the task priority and see if that helps even more.

Biggest issue is right now my Ultimate Edition content(VIP, car pass, etc) isn't working on the PC version.

i'm curious how much better it would've run on ultra had jeff just turned msaa down. that's a big performance hitter in a lot of recent games, deus ex mankind divided being a good example

This is the first game where I just can't run it on my computer, at least judging from Forza 6 Apex. Bummer. Requirements are pretty high. It looks pretty and all but I still don't get it totally.

I play racing games exclusively in cockpit view and was surprised that the studdering completely disappeared when I went into that view.

I'm running on a 970 and I'm pretty bummed out by the stutters i'm having no matter how low i turn the graphics.

It's mostly able to maintain 60 at medium but the hitching and weird slow motion frameyness make it hard to race properly.. It feels a lot smoother locked at 30 but then it also feels like there's a delay or lag to all my inputs.

Considering how well forza apex worked i'm surprised by the performance of horizon.

^oh and yes the cockpit view does seem to run a lot better for me but sometimes i want 3rd person :)

*i've also done all the little things that are supposed to help including installing the newest drivers.

Performance issues aside, this game doesn't look very good. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's just the art style rubbing me the wrong way but, man, I really hate how this looks.

Buzz kill. I was ready and willing to buy this game on PC when it launched... I even bought a racing wheel last week! Been playing Forza 6 Apex... noticed frame-rate issues when playing on "Dynamic" settings using F1 cars at night... i75930, 980ti, 16GB RAM... I had hoped they had figured out how to develop PC games by now... apparently not.

I'll just buy Dirt Rally for half the price and likely be satisfied.

A FN racing game under 60fps in 2016 is some 1994 BS.

If you're developing a racing game and 60fps isn't your first priority, and you weren't confident enough to challenge your publisher who rather have swaying palm trees and realistic sand physics... FU, respectively.

Did they update NVIDIA drivers to 372.90 (Forza Horizon 3 drivers)?

Running a 1070 and can get over 60 fps on ultra, I put it in high to get a nice 80-90 fps. This is at 1440, not 1080p.

Probably a driver issue like others have said.

Game is awesome, definitely recommend.

Getting around 80 fps on a GTX 1080 at ultrawide 3440x1440, just a newer processor, but it's only an i5.

Update drivers, and turn off 4x MSAA?

@richlee: That or maybe they are intentionally trying to kneecap the performance on PC, like in the case of Watchdogs...

Although I've never been into cars or car racing games, I am feeling the urge to buy a steering wheel and paddles and dive into this.

If it is struggling like that on that hardware I doubt it will run great on my Radeon 280X which is like 1/3 as good as a GTX 1080. Strange considering that the XBOX One is basically running a weak Radeon 260. A 1080 should be about 8 times better than what is in the XBOX One (and even much better than the Scorpio which isn't even out until next year). But I guess it must look much better on PC.

Yeah, I am not sure what is going on with their PC, but I am running the game on Ultra settings on a 1440p Monitor and am getting 80 fps +

I am running a 980Ti, i7 6700k, and 16GB RAM. This game runs beautifully on PC. I think their rig should be able to be handling this a lot better than it is .

@dagas: There is a thing called graphical settings and you can turn them down, the Xbox One is probably what low settings look like on PC.

Plus considering it was dropping frames locked to 30, but it can hit 50FPS means something is wrong with either the game or the drivers, so it'll be fixed, if they haven't already released a driver profile already and Giantbomb just haven't downloaded it.

The Titan X can max the game out at 4K 60FPS, so the 1080 can easily max it out at 1080p.... something is obviously wrong here.

As others have said before, they probably didn't update their drivers because it runs better on my less powerful machine.

Jeff left the dynamic optimization option on (I think he set it to medium)

Eurogamer/DF's 'W'ichard turned it off which forces the use of the manual settings (Ultra across the board), admittedly they were using a TitianX but it was @4K not 1080p medium and the gulf isn't that great between the 2 cards.

Dunno how they borked this, but setting the game to low priority in the task manager (annoying, but only takes a few seconds and should be easily patched) completely fixes all the stuttering.

Also, don't run that dynamic optimization BS, that's garbage.

Man, I've only been a subscriber for a few days now, but after watching some Mario Party Parties, all new releases look so inferior to that game of skill. Well, back to binging Mario Party Parties! I hope when next I exit the Bubble, there'll be SOMETHING out there that looks HALF as interesting as a Mario Party game :D
