Quick Look: Frozen Synapse

This is literally the first game I came up in my mind of "man, if I ever made a video game, it'd be like...". I was really into Metal Gear Ac!d 2 at the time. So this game looks pretty cool.

Has Mike ever Died/Lost in a quick look? If so I believe we have found our champion.

That actually looked like quite an interesting little game. I'm not sure I care for the VR wireframe type graphics, but the gameplay looks pretty solid. If there's no time limit on decision making though things could seriously bog down.

 I am genuinely interested in this game. 

$25 seems a little high for a indie game. The concept looks good but it needs a bit more depth to keep up the replay value. Team or squad based, with much larger maps could work and generate a larger online community. Kind of the curse of the indies at the moment - they have one good idea but once you get bored with that, you never play them again.
 
Could Dave and Mike do a regular round up of the offbeat PC games? Perhaps looking through recent small studio releases or the niche games that you see around but never know how they play. Have bought a few games based on their QLs when looking for something a bit different than the usual.

Awesome. The way people talk about this game caught my interest. So happy to see a QL of it.

This looks like Ball Bullet Gun, a japanese game for the SNES (don't know if there was a US version)...

this game looks really interesting and I would get it if it comes out on Steam at a lower price.

Man, this game looks pretty awesome, but 25$ is a little much...

I really want to get this, but the whole "buy 2 at once" is a bit of a turnoff. If this was a 7 or 8 buck steam preorder id be on board.

Also for some reason it's cheapest in €.

So this plays a bit like Laser Squad: Nemesis, which was by the creator of X-COM.

This looks interesting, but the graphics are a turn-off for me. It's just too vectory and boring.

Cool! This is one of those games I would have never, ever heard of on my own or played. I probably still won't play it,  but I am glad to know it exists!

YEY Vinny, Dave and Mike do the best quick looks!! They should just do them all. And also they should all do the next Endurance Run together!!

what the hell did I just watched?

This is basically Robosport. A Maxis game from 1991. Same simultaneous turn structure, same "fuzzy" AI commands.

I'm going to have to look in to this.  My itch for strategy games has to be scratched (they don't make an ointment for that).

Looks like a solid game. I like the way it looks. Might get tis for myself and my bro on payday.

Glad to see Giant Bomb finally do a quick look of Frozen Synapse. It's one of my favourite Indie games. Such a great game. Hope people see how good it is from the quick look. 

If I could play games like this, I would get it.

Man, this reminds me so much of one of the first computer games I ever played back in the early 80's with my brother.  It was called "Galactic Gladiators" from SSI.  Being total Star Wars geeks, we used to setup Cantina bar fights between each other.  It also had a single player mode, but I remember the PC taking forever to plan out it's moves.  Good times.
