Man this is pretty depressing. I want the Wii U to be great and I know it can be, but it seems like there's a hell of a lot of little things they have boned up(most things could be fixed by a few god patches, the rest like a faster drive would be a slightly enhanced console released down the line like a DSi or 360 Slim, which is super unlikely). It is too bad, because something like NIntendo Land is pretty awesome (and is totally fucking beautiful) and has me hopeful there will be a fair share of fucking fantastic Nintendo games on the console. And as for raw horsepower, while they will be behind in a year or so, I feel like having HD, a more traditional controller, etc. will make that gap much less drastic.

Looks like something I could really enjoy if I had a Wii U. What's up with textures though? Looks a little PS2 era. I thought I heard this game is also a DS game? Is that why?

Those drawings look as if they were drawn by a 12 year old. Everything else doesn't fare much better. Also the gameplay is something you can enjoy for free by way of dozens of flash games (that incidentally have better production values).

So, I'm watching this in the morning, getting in a little Giant Bomb before work. My wife comes downstairs, looks at the screen and says "Is this a facebook game?"

Sure, that was pretty funny, but I don't think it's a good sign that Jeff's favorite Wii U gameplay experience has been something that looks just like some kind of farmville style flash game.

This game looks like a tablet game or something I'd see on Facebook. Very disappointing for the "next gen" console.

I like how they went from southern accents to Russian for whatever reason.

So the best thing I've seen so far on the Wii U is the Funky Barn live stream. But man that was a good live stream. RIP Spanner.

I really can't believe the load times in many of these Wii U games. And the hard locks, as well. At first, I thought the load times were just questionable porting for some titles, but it's present even with the basic Wii U menus and games designed specifically for the Wii U. I can understand console games eventually increasing in load times when they really start pushing the systems, but this long at launch?

This really adds to a pile of things which make me question the long term life of the Wii U. And that's a shame, because there's a novelty to it that I keep hoping will work out and lead to some great games.

That crash is bad news. I've only had one lockup so far, and it was on one of the first apps I launched, but I'm always worried about it. I bet my next lockup will happen when I'm showing the thing off to friends.

The fact that you have to physically unplug the Wii U when it hard locks is unacceptable. One of the most frustrating things about it next to the fact that it happens at all.
