Quick Look: Gran Turismo PSP

Looks good and plays well but looks lite on SP content which is a shame. 

the graphics disappoint me a bit.  Polyphony usually can push Sony's hardware to the limits.  The cars look great but the levels.......

LOL.  I remember being so stoked for this game when it got announced before the PSP even came out and i was waiting.  I have given my PSP away since, got a ds, played mario kart, got a ps3, played Forza 2.  All I am saying is that 5 years after the game was announced, this is the crap we get?  Wow.

When they mentioned that they prefer the 3 color racing line it reminded me that you don't let off the gas in an actual race. You're either going faster, or you're about to make a turn. Having the 3rd color in the racing line encourages less aggressive driving than real life drivers.
I'm not saying one's better than the other, because that's a decision for you to make.

Lol you know you're reaching for things to say about the game when you're going through control options.

That about sums up every experince I ever had with driving simulators.

Oh, and that is the fugliest cockpit view I've ever seen.

Not a fan of the UI at all.  That main options screen looks like some really bad smart phone icons.

Boring.   
 
Needs:   

• aggressively, unpredictable AI
• crashes
• annoying pit crew chief that warns you of forementioned crashes a millisecond before you become involved in it
• a career mode, with team management (think GRID)
• full car customization, including paint and decals, custom graphics

I think I would rather have a new Ridge Racer then Grand Turismo.  :P

People can hate all they want, I think this is AWESOME! I'm a car fanatic, way more than I am a "gamer", and having a portable car enciclopedia, with a realistic driving model, and where I can build up a huge collection of cars, and race them on the go, this is a dream come true. I've been playing GT2 on my hacked psp for years now, and have loved it, this has more cars more tracks and better graphics, so I'm a happy camper! I'm just dissapointed it took this long!

Gran Turismo is so 1998. I used to love it, but not anymore.

I want that game, but that and a PSP Go would cost like $300...

 Oh, I know this track from F1 Grand Prix I played on Amiga. Good times.

I hope there's rally in it, I might get it if there is.

That the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix track.

60 fps is really important. Looks very crisp and smooth.

I just love it people bash the game and then bring up Forza 3. Well where's Forza for Zune HD, uh? :P Talk about perspective.

But fairly good looking though

Just like GT5 Prologue, this game doesn't feel like the complete GT expereince and is selling at $40 (presumably). Interestingly enough Shift is said to be coming to PSP. I wonder how that game will stack up against GT PSP.

I was hyped up about this, and just seeing this QL leaves me ridiculously underwhelmed.  Graphically it's great, but I NEED a proper career mode.

Ugh. So much hate. Non-GT fans think it's boring, GT fans CAPS-out at the lack of a career mode...
 
Personally, I play GT for the driving. I eventually reached a point in GT4 where I became bored with fussing about career progression and completion percentage, so I just hopped in whatever car interested me at the time and took it for a time-trial around a ring - Nürburgring, Autumn Ring, High-Speed Ring; love those tracks - just to drive. I've been wishing for Gran Turismo or Gran Turismo 2 to finally show up on PSN just so I could get me a bit of portable driving - October 1st is a Thursday, so... maybe... of course not, who am I kidding?
 
So I won't be complaining - this game looks to be plenty enough for me. I don't care about the lack of a career mode - the collection factor is enough to keep me interested. The game looks great, and it looks like it drives great as well, despite the PSP's inherent limitations. And that Bugatti Veyron offer was enough to get me to actually pre-order something from GameStop...

No career mode is a joke. I was thinking of getting a PSP for this but now after seeing it theres no way. 
 
I mean seriously they should have just ported GT2 or even GT1 and i would have been happier. The lack of a career mode makes this game very shallow. Not worth the purchase when Forza 3 is just around the corner.

This looks like 50% of a game plenty of cars and tracks but almost no variety in modes at all.
