I don't get this comment. PC games are doing fine. In 2010 there were more games released on PC than consoles and had a higher percentage of games in the 80%+ category.

Anytime a quicklook has Brad in it, it seems Brad is the player.  I prefer the Quicklooks where Brad is the passenger.

Whoever designed these weapons needs to go mercenary. If you can afford their services, your game will have their weapon designs in it. Would make for a damn fine FPS landscape with people trying to out-crazy each other instead of just out-Call of Duty.

The Three Laws of Robotics (often shortened to The Three Laws or Three Laws) :

  1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
  2. A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Does that mean if you tell a robot to destroy itself it has to obey?

Yep. Unless telling it to do so would result in harming a human.

It can only protect it's existence if it won't hurt someone, if that's where you're thinking the contradiction comes in.

Some real paradoxes come in with more complex situations like what if a robot is capable of stopping a human from harming another human but it would require action that could also result in some harm being done? If it acts, someone will be harmed. If it doesn't, someone will be harmed. If it is ordered to do one thing or the other it will still conflict with the first law.

It's a brilliant set up for some interesting stories/situations.

Not that I mind people playing whatever they'd want, but I can't see how this makes people go all crazy about it...and I'm a sucker for FPS games myself. I'd probably enjoy playing this, but not as much as the mentioned Painkiller. Or Bulletstorm, especially because of it's colorful imagery. 'Course cyberbunk isn't suppose to have grassy hills and sunshine, but...ugh.

Oh God, this is it. This is the game that I was hoping Bulletstorm and Duke Nukem Forever would be. I got nothing against modern shooters, but if there's still room for 2d sidescrollers and point-and-click adventure games, why has it taken this long to get a truly arcade-y old-school shooter?

Yeah I was just thinking, you could just whisper into someone's robot's ear "destroy yourself". In this world where robots exist they would prob be quite a financial investment, so I guess you just have to sue the asshole shouting at robots across the road to destroy themselves.

Maybe program in that they can only shut themselves down, not actually damage themselves beyond repair. But maybe in this future policing is more advanced so it would be much harder to get away with doing that.

I think Divine Cybermancy had more character.  This game looks
a bit dull other than the fancy over the top graphics.

The sheer amount of shit released on the platform isn't indicative of anything other than a lack of certification quality.

it won't sell in MW quantities and will therefore probably be considered a failure by the industry, but I'm going to preorder it because this looks hella awesome. Yes, I just said that.

Yep. I'm right with you. Seeing a QL with Brad in it lately just makes me less likely to watch it. I feel bad for being a jerk and all, but Brad is pretty intolerable in a whole lot of ways.

Good Quick Look. Will definitely keep an eye on this title.

Like Brad noted, I love the throwback to old-school shooters, in a modern engine with some great art direction. These days the only comparable thing is Serious Sam and Painkiller, though I'm not a huge fan of the latter's setting.

Seriously, the holographic stuff everywhere is great. It's the kind of detail we saw in the Bioshock games

Let me clarify for you - it's more like the Three Laws are inviolable ground rules that are never supposed to be broken, no matter what. It doesn't mean that you can't place additional rules on their programming, but that's the minimum they have to follow. Shouting "kill yourself" at random robots on the street probably wouldn't work because they are still programmed with duties and have no obligation to listen to you unless you're doing it to protect a human.
