The worst part of Gears online was 2 people behind cover shooting at each other indefinately was annoying. So making an entire game based around it?

It does look cool. Haven;t watched the video in full but hopefully it's on PC and a beta for it.

Based purely on this video... I wish this game was faster paced. Moving around the map seems a bit slow. Taking out the 'moving between cover' part of the game could have given them the opportunity to go really fast, Vanquish paced even, as it is it just seems like a third person shooter stripped down to the cover system.

Oh man, this game looks kinda boring and frustrating if the other team holes up. Does not bode well for final game. Kinda skeptical about if it would be any fun.

That first match he was in was the most boring shooter action I've seen. Everyone on the enemy team just camped and shot at brads team when they'd put their heads up. I don't even want to play in the beta.

Wow, this looks much better than what I was expecting from a developer that's made simple platformers with large dictionary-based content systems. (It's been years and I still don't know how to describe Scribblenauts.)

That said, whoa, is this a new Time To Death champion for Brad? That was super fast.

Does seem like if one team just holds up in a dead-end piece of cover they are going to win, anyone approaching is at a disadvantage. Very obvious in the first game there, but the second one seemed a lot better - map had more routes going through it which is what you need to avoid that situation as much as possible.

This is different - it just doesn't look fun (to me).

I can't shake that feeling that they're throwing away their Scribblenauts money here. I don't get why a company like that would even consider doing something FPS/3PS related.

Yeah, it could use Vanquishes faster pace, it still is a pretty interesting looking game though.

Yea ... no. 

I was bored by the end of this QL.
As expected removing free movement didn't suddenly make tps more tactical, flanking still be flanking.
Would this even be on anyone's radar if it wasn't by the team that made Scribblenauts?
Better, budget online shooters are sent out to die everyday. (obvious hyperbole to get a point across)
Nothing about this seems worth of note over all the other competition out there, where's the hook?
Tiny maps, 3v3, samey boring looking environments, restricted movement, are just further negatives to me.

It's like a snowflake trying to be unique, but just looks kind of like an amputaded version of other snowflakes.
Amutated snowflakes, now there is a morbid thought.
I suddenly pictured a self aware, alive snoflake screaming in agony and horrow as it's legs get cut off with a saw and a pool of blood spreading underneath, it's tears and sobs intermingling with the screaming.
Too far?
 
Yeah probably too far.
Maybe playing the Walking Dead earlier today had something to do with this train of thought.

I kind of like the idea of the game but like Ryan said the maps could be a little better. The second wasn't to bad but the first just let you hole up and win.

Yeah I had the same thought, just couldn't be bothered to make a longer comment. Don't know if there's a grenade / smoke equivalent in this, though, but it'd be incredibly useful if there was.

This is beta so maybe things will change but they seem to be really dropping the ball on the maps side of things. People are upside down and whatnot but there still only appears to be one plane you move on. They could have effectively capitalized on what Dark Void was hinting at with vertical cover. Time will tell.

So far it seems too linear. Not enough cover locations to make the game fun or interesting. Neat mechanics though.

It looks like it will get really boring pretty quickly. I like the idea of the flying from point to point but in a multiplayer game you need a bit more than that.

When you remove half of the mechanics of a shooter you also remove half the fun, waiting behind a cover until someone pass in front of you completely unnoticed of your presence sounds like the boring part of TPSs

People thinking of this as needing to be like a traditional shooter baffle me. I'd compare this more to that crazy tron world tactics game more than a traditional shooter in a lot of ways. Yeah, its slow and it focuses on other things than running around blasting dudes in the face every second in a half. Maybe it's good or maybe it's bad but it went for something and I'm pretty sure they achieved their goal if nothing else.

My biggest problem with the beta is spawning and enemies shooting me as soon as I spawn.

@Maginnovision: I've played in several games and none of them have turned into that.
