There is absolutely nothing standard in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. It's the fucking best.

Edit: Man, they seem awfully reductive about the reasons people enjoy this game, and threw in a dig at Skullgirls too.

That stand stuff is definitely similar to Persona summoning.

Well, shit if this is basically the PS1 version's story mode with the DC gameplay then fuck yea I'm on board.

They should have asked @Brad , the resident anime & manga editor to do this quick look. He could have resolved all the questions regarding the bloodlines and history of each characters.

I still have this on PS1. Great game, shame they don't show much of it (understandably I guess). In the story mode sometimes out of nowhere you have these mini games that have nothing to do with fighting game stuff (like- shooting galleries for example). 
 
I really liked it because it is weird. I never got good at it, though. I have thought about reading the manga, but it's been around over 30 years or something now so I have never taken the plunge.

This is actually the 25th year of it running, so there's been a lot of JoJo announcements this year. There is a new anime starting in October that starts adapting the beginning of the manga, which I really hope turns out good.

They seemed rather down on this game. I dunno. 20 minute quick look, 5 of which are dedicated to watching the credits? Gamespot totally played the Dreamcast version for a bit less than an hour like a month ago. YOU DROP A STEAMROLLER ON DUDES.

Very little gameplay shown with the updated visuals and we get to see the entire credits sequence. A half-assed QL for a half-assed port I gues.

In case anyone is wondering the hd remake comes from the mvc3 team.

Fun(ner) fact: Most of the ancillary characters and enemies from the Jojo's manga/anime are named after various musical artists, groups, and/or songs.

I'm not the biggest fan of the game, although it was fun enough back in the arcade days. But the comics are amazingly crazy.

Has to be one of the more recent rereleased games that has some of the more silly names to it. Shame & somewhat Typical that Capcom decides to go back to revisit this rather lackluster fighting game over some of the more forgotten series they worked on like Maximo or Dino Crisis (long overdue for more of these) which could do better than this looks like it would.

I didnt like the Jojo's games at all but I am conflicted on this because if it sells it could be a door opener for Red Earth.

I don't know it kinda looks like a standard capcom fighting game with a little bit of craziness, I never heard of it until they announced this HD thing. I wonder if it has air dashes.

never played this game, but i have always heard so much good about the series, think ill fire up the old x box today and play this and dust for a while

jojo is one of those under rated gems that shows how innovative fighting games can be

I'd like to play this as I liked Persona 4 Arena, but 20 bucks is just too much, man.

For what it's worth, there is a nice little system guide online.

Jeff is obviously not into this game, which is fine, the game definitely doesn't appeal to everyone. Patrick is his usual clueless self, but it's cool to have him back.

So I was really disappointed with the quick look and I was even starting to doubt that I'm the only person who LOVED this game. But after scrolling down and reading the comments I was really glad that wasn't true. Awesome story mode, super fun (and easy to pick) gameplay, and beautiful 2d art are few of the things that made this one of my favorite fighting games. It also introduced me to the crazy world of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure which has been one of my favorite pieces of entertainment since.
