I feel pity for these people that feel some compulsive need to watch every single QL they release.

Jojo doesn't have a stand because he is the young Joseph from part 2 of the manga before the concepts of stands were introduced. It's called Jojo's Bizarre Adventure because every main character in every new part of the manga has a name that is shortened into the nickname Jojo, or something.

Names like Jonathan Joestar, Joseph Joestar and Giorno Giovanna. Yeah.

I don't know about anyone else, but I really have a hard time liking fighting games like this and P4A. I can't focus as well if there aren't just two characters on screen.

Are people really that blind? You can see they've done some touchup work and hash shading on the sprites.

This year is some kind of anniversary for the JoJo series and they're releasing a new anime to go along with it, so I'm pretty sure the only reason this is getting released is to tie into that and the US release was just an afterthought.

The supers in this game are dirt easy to perform so I'm a little surprised Jeff had so much trouble winning. Taking a second to look at a command list would've helped him astronomically. I bought this game on launch because of my nostalgia for the game and my love of the absolutely crazy comic. I'm pretty much satisfied with what I got for my $20 but I wish they hadn't re-translated some of the character names like Vanilla Ice and Boingo. I'm not even that into manga anymore. The only ones I follow anymore are Jojo's, Gantz, and Liars' Game though that's probably %300 more manga than what the Giant Bomb guys read.

As good as Jojo's premise fits in this fighting game the manga is less about straight forward battles between stands and more about tactics and strategy when 2 completely different abilities clash. That approach to action is a great contrast to stuff like Dragonball or Naruto. The "Jojo" in the title refers to the main character of a given volume. Ku(Jo) (Jo)taro is the main character of this story arc and he is assisted by his grandpa (Jo)seph (Jo)estar. Joseph was the main character of the previous volume and he typically went by his nickname of "Jojo" so the "Jojo" with purple hair is just the young version of himself. The title basically implies a common bloodline that consistently begets a new protagonist for the later portions of the story.

The quick look was good but there was an utter lack of embracing the craziness and an emphasis on pandering to those of us who are dumb enough to buy this at such a questionable value. I just want to be able to play this with my fight pad in peace and not have to pirate it on a Dreamcast or CPS3 emulator. I also don't mind supporting anything connected to one of my favorite comics of all time. Here's hoping the PS3 game gets a release here as well. This site needs more videos of crazy fighting games as evident in the Stay Dead quick look. Keep up the good work.

Even third strike's rerelease filter, the one they put so much work into, looked kinda iffy to me.

I've never read the JoJo's Bizzare Adventure manga, but I remember this back when it came out on the Dreamcast. I actually never ended up playing it, but I specifically remember how fucking crazy it looked in the advertisements when I used to get the Official Dreamcast Magazine.

Funny story, actually. My family got our dog around the same time the original game was released (early 2001, I think?). I'm not entirely sure this is how it happened, but I'm pretty sure when trying to come up with a name, I looked at the back cover of one of the Dreamcast magazines, saw the ad for the game, and we actually ended up naming our dog JoJo... possibly after the game (Except now most of us just call her "Jo" for short).

The PSX story mode was like MK 2011's which allowed you to play different characters. It even had mini games, special rules fights, and if I remember correctly, branching story paths. It was fun, interesting, and got you into the fiction of the game... Why is that not in this HD remake? WTF Capcom?

I had a fairly good time with the PSX version back in the day but this overpriced, lackluster port is not tempting me to relive it. I do, however, really feel like re-watching the anime right now...

I never played this back in the day, but it reminds me quite a bit of P4 Arena (but even crazier with regards to character designs), which I've been enjoying as of late.

Capcom really knows how to stick it to their fans.

There's a moment in the story of this game that you have to play poker. Fun fact is that it was thanks to that I learned the sequences and how to play, at a basic level, a poker game.

I am kind of surprised at the amount of jabbing they do at this game. I definitely won't be picking it up (especially at $20) but I'm sure there are big fans out there that would be glad to have it. It looks like a decent enough update, but I do kind wonder if it would have been better off being less cash, but I'm sure some analyst got paid too much to work the numbers and decide on it.

20 dollars is pretty outrageous no matter what old game it is. Especially such an obviously lazy 'HD' version.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure did come out in the states. I had it at my local arcade.
 
The Shoto-clone is Abdul/Avdol. Jotaro is the Rekka guy (Fei Long).

As I watch this, I seriously wonder how they can call this an HD Ver.? Nothing about this looks HD or even moderately updated to support some type of HD besides the vertical side bars.
