I can't decide if this looks good or bad.

Some parts of this game look cool. I like the graphic effects of the fights...that purple stuff is nice. Other parts don't look so hot, like it's too dark or something.

Looks like a fun video game, although I won't be full price buying this like I did with Shadows of the Damned. This just looks a little less polished than Suda's previous game, but I bet I'll enjoy the hell out of it for 20 bucks some day.

And Jeff's "Oh I hate this..." at the fourth wall stuff was hilarious.

NO! These are video games, they are serious business! It is the job of games press to further the morality of the human race!

No, but youre right. People take so much of this shit way too seriously. Some games try to make social statements, some games are just making jokes. This is like the thousandth japanese game that has women with giant breasts that you have to stare at for no other reason than to overly sexualize them. Yet all of a sudden a bunch of reviewers seem to think its their job to condemn this game because its not their definition of "P.C". Just review the game as a game. If you take offense to it, write it on your personal blog or something.

And cue everyone calling me mysoginist or something. go ahead. Its video games, i dont really give a shit what developers decide to put in them. I care if its a good game or not.

Game is terrible though. The humour is puerile and the game mechanics are infantile.

I really hope Suda51 will be able to make a fresh start with games built on actually decent mechanics.

Man, they might be trying to be kind, but the combat sections look A LOT like No More Heroes. Minus the dumb wrestling shit, so I'm out!

That starring mechanism is love gun, and what is with the video player. screwed up.

I liked some of the dialogue, beyond that....

The cut scenes look great, but the gameplay looks like really shitty black-levels filtered through bad video compression

Everything in this type of game appeals to me except for the gameplay, which means I don't really get to enjoy them at all.

That final level Vinny played through vaguely reminded me of Deadly Premonition, because of the walking > cutscene > walking > ... parts.

Obviously the unicorn has a crucial symbolic meaning. Mondo is a Replicant.

@nekroskop: not saying they're bad (except for the camera. Japanese devs really need to get their third-person camera issues fixed) just that they are all the super common things that it seems pretty much every japanese game has.

Suda has an interesting sense of humor. Especially with that Gigolo mode bullshit.

Jesus, how tedious. It's like they wanted to reimagine No More Heroes, but decided to suck any of the humor and joy out of it. And yeah, the gigolo mode is just creepy.

Vinny was the PERFECT member of the GB crew to drive this game.

It doesn't have any of the charm, camp or cleverness as something like, say, Deadly Premenetion though. It's overstylized for the sake of being overstylized and the terrible fucking dialouge and crinch-worthy "meta"-humour is poorly hidden behind an awfull attempt at being deep and citch. Suda seems more and more like the videogame equevalent of Richard Kelly and tKiller IS Dead seems like a game made by and for assholes.

On a more positive note if Vinny and Jeff ever loose their jobs at CBS, they should start a company dedicated to making videogame commentaries for terrible videogames.

Oh hey, forced walking parts - now overly long and even more pointless. If there is one constant in this industry you can always count on it's Japanese developers badly copying Western tropes years after everyone got sick of them.

Also, I believe the lore/writing in this game is mainly based on the desire of saying cool titles from popular music culture a bunch of times (man who sold the world-variation, dark side of the moon).

The gigolo minigame looks pretty fun though. Gotta give them credit for that.

I have a strange urge to re-watch REDLINE again.

I have really enjoyed previous works from Suda. No More Heroes, Shadows of the Damned and Lollipop Chainsaw were all fun, quirky and over the top.

This however, looks kind of meh. I may just wait for a price drop.

No More Heroes is one of my favorite games of all time. No More Heroes 2 is pretty good. Killer7 is nuts. Shadows of the Damned was great!

Maybe Suda should just make anime. His stories and ideas are original and weird and all that. But I never actually enjoy playing any of his games....

The washed out color palette on just the characters and not the architecture looked jarring. I can understand why they did it, as if they both were washed out the action would be even more muddied than it already it.

I see what they were trying to do with the art style but it doesn't work from a game play perspective. Wish they made more interesting stylized decisions on the character and level design instead of leaning so heavily on their color palette.

I will get this game when it comes down in price a bit. It's my kind of crazy. I'll also support it because it is the kind of game that would make Anita Sarkeesian's head explode.

I've been watching Two Best Friends play the game and the game definitely has systems for a character action game. You need to buy upgrades (moves, abilities, etc.) to get the good stuff.


I'm enjoying the game. It's not Bayonetta, but it looks good.

I love when Suda51 makes games because he only helps in accelerating the death of the Japanese game industry. I'm also baffled at how the pos keeps getting funding to make these terrible insults he calls games, he is no doubt the Uwe Boll of the game industry.

Finally, the chewing gum reference Vinny made in the Hatsune Miku quick look makes sense

This game is trying a little too hard to be "cool" and "deep" imo. I don't really hate the art style...but I hate that it's all over the place. Combat seems pretty standard as well so...no thanks.
