I played last night for a few hours. (EA Early Access Pass) and i'm no good at sports games period, but this year's madden seems pretty cool. It looks really good, and i like the new look from the OFF line, and it plays pretty well (even to someone that sucks at sports games).

Can't wait for an Alex and Vinny QL of NBA 2k. It's really cool to see somebody that actually knows something about sports play sports games.

I was legitimately confused when I saw this on the news feed earlier today.

"Wasn't last year Madden 25? Is this going to be a Playstation 2 football game or something?"

Wait, I didn't quite catch that - what sport is this again?

I actually love the whole ragdoll physics thing because it makes every tackle seem like the person being tackled is just completely knocked out and its funny

It was a fine two or three year run of dumb shit but as an actual fan of these sports it's nice to have Alex around to actually respect them and explain what's new and lame about their game representatives. Hadn't even considered this would be the case when GBEast was announced.

Yay! Finally a GB sports quicklook where one person actually knows WTF they are talking about.

So, when is the proper quicklook coming? The one that realizes all sports games are boring & repetitive and consist of an hour making fun of how dumb they are? Those are my favorite QL's! Pretending a Madden game deserves more then 2 minutes of talking about, is funny for a few minutes, but taking it seriously for over an hour?

Leave it to a New England fan not to know the difference between the AFC and the NFC.

I hope this means that the NBA 2k15 quick look won't be them turning off all the rules and then Jeff complaining it's not NBA Jam for the third year in a row.

These are so much better when no one knows what they're doing.

Great job Alex and Vinny. I like how you all put the spotlight on the game instead of yourselves. The same cannot be said for GiantBombs previous coverage of sports games.

So is it bad that I preferred my Madden quick looks to contain no useful information and just involve Jeff and Vinny making fun of Football? I guess if I actually wanted to know what this year's Madden was like I would appreciate this, but I don't and any number of other sites can give me that info. First we lose Flight Club and now the GiantBomb Sports Team.

I was hoping it may have some sort of relevance like the lights that we on display of the helicopter in Independence Day..

Not the same without Jeff, but I do appreciate that Alex actually understands this game.

In the comments of every year's Madden Quick Look, I used to point out that Vinny plays Madden like it's Tecmo Bowl, and Jeff plays Madden like it's NFL Blitz, and that's why Jeff always beats Vinny: he has a 12-year head start on him.

But Alex plays Madden like it's Madden! Once it was like watching a 5th-grader taking a 3rd-grader's lunch money. Now it's like a grown-ass 250-pound man taking a 3rd-grader's lunch money!

I know it's always a lot of dudes bumping into each other, but the animation transitions are always so jarring in these games. The constant hitching up before a scene change is also distracting.

Phil Simms looks like a 10 year old girl in this game.

Yup. Giant BEAST did a good job here, but I still miss the @Jeff & @Vinny Sports Hour...

I really wish Alex had pointed out to Vinny that he's tapping the button and lobbing all his passes.... its a small nuance that someone who hasn't played a modern football game wouldn't realize.

This QL is a great test of how much you give a shit about Madden because the first half is actually explaining the game and the second half is the Madden QL we've come to know and love from Giant Bomb. Don't get me wrong, I think the design odyssey of Madden is fascinating so I think it's useful to take a look at the game every year and have someone who can scrutinize it more closely. But in the end all that really matters to me is how much fun Vinny and crew can extract from it.

I miss the Jeff and Vinny sports experts team. Those Quick Looks were so good.

Oh man the microtransactions. Can't even purchase a single pack of cards (150 points). So you're in for 300 points minimum if you want to get out without leaving change in EA's grubby fingers. But no! Cause you can't buy 300. You gotta buy 100, 250, or 500. So you need to do three separate transactions for 100 just to hit that minimum right. In fact, the minimum you must spend in a single transaction to spend all points purchased is $10 (1050 points = 7 packs). -_________-
