Microsoft started putting those ridiculous Surface labels on the backs of them after so many commentators kept calling them iPads the season they were introduced.

"Good Morning Football" is very much NFL Network's lame wake-up show that I caught on the occasion I turned off TV after a lousy Thursday game and came back later.

I like how the half-pads practice takes the care to not have players tackle to the ground but also didn't bother lowering the impact sounds.

Why does this look like utter shit? The Fostbyte engine is usually a powerhouse but in this is just ugly. Especially when there is actual gameplay. The faces are okay but very uncanny valley. Everything else looks like its from the 360 era.

I've a jonesing for a football game suddenly after being out since nfl 2k5, mostly cause I just like to play them and honestly have barely any familiarity with current teams etc. Preemptive I never said it was rational.

@ripelivejam: EA Access is how I play my Madden 10 hour trial is all I need. However I pulled the trigger on a year of Origin Access Premier on PC and that already feels worth it.

@ripelivejam: Get 18 for dirt cheap (also on EA access) for a similar enough experience, and a better story mode. Unless you are PC only, then 19 is the only one available since 08.

Alex on sports QLs is good but Jeff/Vinny as the Sports Editors was top tier.

It was Ron Cephas Jones, I believe. Not sure if that's the same guy, but he was on Luke Cage and Mr. Robot.

Longshot mode is the last thing Madden needs. There are still major improvements that should be made to the franchise mode and it's honestly embarrassing how much better NBA 2K is at improving their Franchise mode while Madden barely touches it every year.

I have been playing this since Tuesday and I haven't had a single janky thing happen yet. I primarily play MUT though, which I think has been getting better and better every year, this one is the best one yet. Though Alex does mention it's not where he spends the majority of his time, so I could see how this year's wouldn't be as alluring as some previous.

You've got Rob Schneider, just lean into it and make the story mode as stupid as possible. Go full Waterboy. How many times can you re-make We Are Remember the Invincible Friday Night Marshall Titans... Rudy?

I really expected an abilitease into an ACL tear and needing to relearn the basics for the story mode.

Call of Duty is removing the campaign, and Madden is doubling down on a story mode. Strange times..

I may have to pick up Madden this year, first time since the PS2 released.

PC version is just as good as FIFA has been.

idk, 2k seems to be in their own madden stride the last few years. very few franchise improvements and more focus on the my player stuff. its still a much better representation of basketball compared to madden's version of football but live needs to pick up the pace and put some fear into 2k

For a modern Frostbite game, this game is surprisingly ugly.

Also, last year's game made me interested in a single-player football campaign, while this just looks stupid.

maybe its just the base console version or the youtube compression but it actually looks pretty good on a X on a 4k tv. my only real complaint is that the lighting is off and doesn't look right.

@mems1224: I think what mainly looks way off is the models & animation in the story mode, like they've taken their mannequins that have been set up solely for football animations and are forcing them into regular human walkin' around animations.

What are those scraps of cloth the players have hanging off their waists?

@mems1224: I was tempted to also grab the last nba for cheap but apparently steam says its terrible despite thousands of concurrent players. That's microtransactions and easily agitated pc gamers for you!

Its still a great game, especially if you're someone like me who gives 0 fucks about online play and career modes and just sticks to franchise mode. the microtransactions in the myplayer mode was definitely gross but that mode was a mess for various reasons.
