Quick Look: Madden NFL 25

@jeff Of course the players are not thinking about the fact that "Hey, a lot of people are watching this." Here today in this game, but when you win, and then you sit back and think, "Everybody was watching played well", boy that was some great experience.

That's what I got.

For those curious, the Green Bay Packers are in fact publicly owned. They're the only team in the NFL that allows that, and I think that's also true for pretty much every major sports league in the country. Also, they don't play that song every time the Packers score a touchdown, it was just a lazy music choice by the developers.

As someone who has zero knowledge of American Football, being British, this was completely hilarious.

Everything about this looks so bad. It's impenetrable for anyone but hardcore football fans and the presentation fluctuates between boring when it's working correctly and broken when it's not.

Seriously, football games need a huge overhaul. Backbreaker was flawed, but it was such an interesting step forward. Such a shame to see them still emulating broadcast. It's so boring. Put me on the field.

I don't understand how people can get frustrated with these quicklooks of sports games. Every time the guys do these types of games they do them the same way so watching them and getting frustrated would be like watching Star Trek and being frustrated that it's a sci-fi show.

Jim Nantz does NFL commentary now?... I've only ever heard him on the Golf coverage and golf video games. Bizzare.

Also being Scottish the only thing I know about American Football is that we had a team, the Scottish Claymores, and we won the World Bowl once. Other than that I know hee-haw about American Football.

As someone who also doesn't know/care about football, I found this quick look very enjoyable.

Phil Simms sucks so much.

I usually love a Jeff/Vinny football QL despite knowing very little about it as they're usually fun to watch but this was very dry. I'm putting the blame on there game here though. The college football game does seem to have that touch of personality that's missing here. The slow menus really don't help especially during the management part where it grinds to a halt as it "simulates" the games.

The move to 2 dollar french fries was Giant Bomb's most explosive moment of the game.

as someone who has never been into American Football and has only ever watched the superbowl, this game seems horribly confusing to play...

@kevin_cogneto: Really? What channel? I honestly can say I've never heard him do NFL coverage before. Bear in mind though I'm basing this off what I've seen repeated on TV in the UK on our cut rate ESPN and tape-delay Channel 5 coverage in the 2000's.

I could only think of the "Oh...i made myself sad" line from Futurama. :(

On one hand, I feel bad for football fans who actually want to know if this game would be good for them.

On the other hand, I watched this 3 times and cracked up each time. Maybe it's in a way, comforting to watch a QL featuring people who have the same interest and knowledge of American football as I do.

But the problem is the hardcore football fan is a huge market and they want to emulate the broadcast.

@gorillamopena: I mean, yes, it makes no sense for them to deviate, but I just feel like it's weird that there's only one football game on the market and it's hardcore and broadcast-style and there's nothing else. Well, other than Blitz, but they've already abandoned it again.

@foolinjection: CBS. Jim Nantz is the lead play-by-play announcer for every sport that CBS has: NFL football, college basketball, and the PGA tour. He did the Superbowl last season, and every other time CBS has had it as far back as I can remember.

I don't know about you guys, but I am extremely excited about the Cuidad de Mexico Asaltantes next season. I think they have great potential to play a good, clean season and will really strike a chord with the home town fans. Their move is going to be nothing but positive and only good things will come of it.

Well, thanks to this comment section, I know a new racist slur. That's unfortunate.

Frankly though, I don't think Vinny knew it was derogatory. I don't really think enough people in this country are well enough acquainted with the various peoples of the Indian subcontinent to have specific slurs for each of them, so that word doesn't have much usage here even among the racists I've encountered.

I always love the feigned ignorance of sports in these QL's.

No way dude. The Seahawks are many analysts favorite to go to the Super Bowl this year. They have the best Defense in the league and a stud QB/RB combo.

I used to like Madden games back in like 02, but this looks pretty boring.
