What a great game. Beat it two days ago at about 35 hours. Great use of 3D and touch and the giant Luigi battles where you have to turn the 3DS sideways are great. The story is pretty boring and I was skipping most of the dialog by the end of the game. Also the little amount of platforming you do I found frustrating. But the timing based combat is so good its still a must pick up for any 3DS owner. The fight music is pretty damn good to.

Ugh, I absolutely hated those battles, which is unfortunate, because for the most part, everything else is pretty good. They were cool in a Pacific Rim kind of way, but in terms of gameplay they felt like horrible prolonged quick time nightmares. They made me want to rip my hair out D:

Also, those battles completely disregard any of your items, gear, skills, etc... that you can use in every other battle.

@beachthunder: Thats unfortunate, I really liked those battles. I thought the visuals were great in them and all the touch actions were responsive. It would be awesome if they made a Pacific Rim game in that style on the 3DS.

@blipp18: I don't know, honestly never played Inside Story though I always meant to get around to it. Just one of those game that fell through the cracks of time.

Are those exactly the same as the ones in Bowser's Inside Story? 'Cause those got really frustrating and cheap as the game went on.

Great game, albeit a bit long. Finished it in 40 hours, and I didn't do everything or collect everything. At 30 hours it would have been a perfect game.

Also, fuck tilt controls.

It took me roughly 90 hours and I made sure to collect everything. I suppose I'm kinda slow as well.

Also, yes, fuck tilt controls.

Best non-Fire Emblem game on the 3DS, this.

Also, it's called Mario and Luigi Dream Team Bros. over here. Don't know why they removed the 'bros.' part in the US. It's odd enough that it's out so much later there than in Europe.

@jeff Of course the players are not thinking about the fact that "Hey, a lot of people are watching this." Here today in this game, but when you win, and then you sit back and think, "Everybody was watching played well", boy that was some great experience.

That's what I got.

are you sure you're posting this comment on the right page?

They didn't remove it for the US, they added it for Europe because we stupid Europeans don't understand such complicated things. "Mario & Luigi? Are these the same as from the Super Mario Bros. games? Probably not as it doesn't say _bros_ at the end.

I feel like this game is no more verbose than Bowser's Inside Story. But I didn't really mind in that game either with such standouts as Broque Monsieur and the Monty Bros (the video game characters I would most like to party with of 2009).

Nintendo continuing the tradition of long winded dialogue to cover shallow gameplay. Oh and don't forget placating fanboys with forced nostalgia.

I'm really getting a Jean Michel Jarre vibe from the overworld music, but can't quite figure out what song it's reminding me of. Thought it was something off of Oxygene or Equinoxe, but couldn't find it there.

If you're curious the voice actor for Yoshi is Nintendo composer Kazumi Totaka, who also voiced E.Gadd from Luigi's Mansion.

Is this any better than Bowser's Inside Story? I'm just not feeling the compulsion to play this as bad as I did with the last game.

I notice it says "Save" on the lower screen. Can you actually save at any time? That'd be huge for me.

Inns are made superfluous in pretty much any modern RPG that has them. One of my non-consequential pet peeves. If you're gonna have inns that save/heal/restore your party, you should made it so you need the inns, or at least give them some special significance over just using a '50 gil' "tent."

Well the problem is that this QL shows basically the end of the tutorial section of the game. It gets a lot better pretty much as soon as that part ends. Once you get some of the mad luiginary attacks and so on it's very fun. The gameplay actually isn't shallow at all (by JRPG standards).

Characters talk to eachother in an RPG game? Shallow gameplay!

It's a Mario game? Forced nostalgia!

So did I get that right? Or would you like to expand on your drive-by comment? You could start by explaining what "forced nostalgia" is,

Having played this for around 10 hours, I can honestly say it's the weakest entry to the Mario and Luigi RPG series. The beginning drags on and on while they slowly introduce things that have been in every past Mario RPG entry, It's not very funny, and the story still hasn't grabbed me. These block people with their weird accents just don't grab me the way the Beanbean Kingdom did.

The combat is still fun, though.
