Quick Look: Mega Man Legacy Collection 2

Dr. Light's voice always just kills me in the best way possible.

Mega Man 8 was my first Mega Man game so i will says its a great game.

Tip for Alex assuming he gets to MM10 in the future and somehow sees AND remembers this specific comment in however many months: Proto Man takes double damage in exchange for the charge shot, slide, and shield, which Mega Man doesn't have in 9 or 10. Definitely fun for variety but if you're the kind of player who likes to facetank enemies to get through or just aren't very good at avoiding (both me, generally) he's not the recommended pick.

Holy christ, that voice acting. Now I just want Blue Bombin to skip straight to this, even though there's apparently not that many cutscenes. But I need to hear their reactions...

All I can say is, I'm just glad they exposed themselves to that badly voice acted anime in MM8. Brooklyn Dr. Light needs to be canon.

Mega Man X4 has almost worse voice acting.

Great game though.

Mega Man has always been anime. The NES simply wasn't capable of video playback so they had to hand build those ending cutscenes of Mega Man riding a train, thinking of his dead brother.

9 and 10 deserve better than to be chained to those other two (awful) games.

I definitely like the look of the Super Nintendo/PS1 era of Mega Man. Early X stuff I guess?

A Person Who Didn't Play Mega Man

Ah, yes, the infamous Dr.Wahwee. 8 Was my first ps1 game ever, so I kinda have a soft spot for it.

A Tengu is a japanese wind monster that is often depicted with a long nose.

Seems like it's the PS1 version of Mega Man 8 instead of the Saturn, so no sale for me. The Saturn one having different (better?) music in spots and hidden bonus bosses that were absent from the Playstation one.

There were DLC's for Mega Man 9 & 10. Mega Man 9 had Protoman and Mega Man 10 had Bass (with Protoman unlocked in the base game) as well as some extra difficulty modes beyond "Normal", are they not in this collection? or do you have to unlock them?

When Alex was buttoning through Mega Man 10's menus he didn't come across any other characters than Mega Man and Protoman, as well as Easy and Normal Mode. I was just wondering 'cause that would be strange.

I don't really care about 7, 8 or 10, but I really want to play Mega Man 9. I guess I'll have to wait for a sale. I'm a bit bummed they didn't check out 9; I've never played it and I would've liked to see some of it.

It is pretty unfortunate that Capcom has once again overlooked Megaman & Bass (Rockman & Forte) for the Super Famicom (and later awkwardly ported to the GBA for US audiences). While it is available translated through SNES emulation, it would have been great to finally have that original game included with 7 and 8 which are incredibly similar. Most of the assets for Megaman 8 were reused for Megaman & Bass and while Inafune was aiming for a very narrow market ("younger players who still had a Super Famicom and not a Playstation") the game is actually much more difficult, complex and has none of the weird anime cut-scenes or voices. This collection will always feel incomplete without the inclusion of that game.

Mega Man 8 was the first Mega Man I owned after years of looking at comic book ads for the old ones. It was then I learned I didn't actually like Mega Man games.

And yet I played it over and over, before finally getting to Wily's Castle and saying "fuck you, no more." Always loved the anime cutscenes though.

That might be a record for start of quick look to wrong information. This collection was not done by Digital Eclipse who did the first Legacy Collection, this was done internally by Capcom and from what I've heard is a lower quality collection than the first one, though it's mostly competent.

I first time played Mega Man 8 with this collection and I don't like it at all. Most of the levels are boring and music isn't great either.

@grizzlybutts: Agreed, I really wish this had Mega Man & Bass and the arcade Power Fighters/Battle games rather than 9 & 10, since 9 and 10 aren't really "legacy"

Seriously. What is up with Capcom never including Mega Man and Bass in these collections? Is there something special about it that makes it difficult to port/emulate, or is the fact that it isn't a numbered entry just too crazy for non-super fans to grasp?

And where is that dope opening movie for Mega Man 8? Locked away in a menu somewhere, I hope.
