Quick Look: Microsoft Flight

Hah, Yuri Lowenthal in a flight sim. Didn't expect that one.

Oh, man, was worried for a second there that this was a Vinbroless quick look.

I love it when the trio gets together. Keep it up guys! Fantastic video!

Hah, just scrolled down to post that. I expect him in JP games, but not in Microsoft Flight. Yosuke is gettin' around.

It is a pretty decent flight sim, not for the crazy enthusiast perhaps, but it has extremely good presentation and hand holding to get you going.

Great QL and fantastic game - I love it. I think the graphics are far better than FSX and the flight models are spot on accurate too. MS Flight clearly shows huge potential for expansion and is off to a superbly polished start already.

I liked the part where he jumped on top of the plane and grappled to a nearby chopper.

"He's going out on a plane!"

I was disappointed at the lack of Vinny.

And then there was Vinny. And it was good.

Granted the game is no X-Plane/Warthog, but Dave shows some smooth pilot skills!

You cannot plan the "fun" beforehand, but these DaveDrewVinny QL's truly very often are some of the greatest QLs.

This game certainly looks interesting. I downloaded it and played for a bit. Got five achievement points for free, so that was cool.

Can someone help me? Don't know why but I do have only black screen where video should be. I'm using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.27. Everything was working fine this morning and when I came back I couldn't play any videos on giantbomb site.

You guys really need to play the new X-Plane that comes on like 10 DVDs. It's a pretty good reason to own a HOTAS.

Distance Traveled: 357 nanometers. That's not very far at all. I believe the unit they were looking for NM or nmi.

Fantastic Quick Look guys.

Great quick look. I'm not so sure about the game though. Who exactly is it appealing too? I can't imagine a casual fan dropping $20 for a small region or $15 for a fully modeled plane. I don't think it brings enough to the table for a hardcore fan to either. Would they have tried to push a $50 retail product with just Hawaii and five planes? They really need to slash the prices to at most a third of the current price, and push out more content.

Oh man. That bridge run was PHENOMENAL.

This has been the BEST 2 months in Giantbomb history! I can't get enough of Dave and Vinny quicklooks/TNTs! Please don't stop... believing...

It's so refreshing to see someone, aka Dave, who respects and understands PC gaming behind one of these PC quicklooks. I can't count the amount of times Ryan has done a PC quicklook where there was no vsync and the graphic quality was utter garbage even though it could be higher. I'll give Dave a pass on using a 360 controller, just because he gives this game justice in quicklook fashion. Dave should be the PC quicklook guy from now on.

Especially relevant since Bruce Dickinson is a licensed pilot.

I like the idea of flight sims and this looks like one I could actually play without getting too confused or bogged down in a million buttons.

Not sure about the value for money but certainly gonna give it a go.

@SM5240: Bruce - relevant in so many ways?

FSX had a couple crazy missions including the token collecting mission in a business jet in Seattle.

Even though this is a little pricey (try checking the third party addons for FSX) I think it's a viable route for Microsoft to take to get more people on board. FSX definately needed more streamlining and explanation of the interface.

It just dawned on me that GFWL is supposed to be an equivalent to XBOX live with DLC and achievements built in and it looks like it's finally getting some first party support. Encrypting my savegames is still really annoying.

I have Flight Sim X and i've just downloaded this to give it a try. It's ok, but it's more of an arcade version of a Flight Sim. So for the people that couldn't get into Flight Sim, (mostly due to difficult controls), then definitely give this a try.

Oh man, every time I hear this song I just think of Carmageddon 2, and how fucking awesome it was when this song played.

The best quicklook trio strikes again with another banger of a show!

Them flying under that bridge at the end was amazing. I totally thought they were going to crash into it or the ocean. Vinny saying "Oh yeah, you got this!", in a way like he was hoping they'd crash as well... Pretty hilarious.

FYI Dave... the "Pilot Heat" switch is actually a Pitot Heat switch, used to heat the pitot-static on the outside of the aircraft that determine what your airspeed is. All in all it was a crazy good quick look. Keep up the good work gentlemen.

Oh, such a wonderful quicklook, the bridge run was just amazing. I should download this game, my copies of Flight Simulator 95 and 98 have gotten quite old by now.
