I really enjoyed this stream. Also was just browsing the Wiki and turns out that Kotal Kahn is voiced by "friend of the site" Phil Lamarr.

man, it bums me out that we wont get this kind of content for SFV. i wish the crew liked good fighting games. Jason gives me some hope. maybe he can talk some sense into these rubes.

So in that first fight, he caved in the dude's skull, shot arrows through both of his eyes, then body slammed him hard enough to shatter his sternum.

Question:

Why do people like Mortal Kombat? It looks great, there's a ton of stuff to do and play with and unlock, but the underlying mechanics look so stiff and the violence has always seemed super forced and corny to me. I'm genuinely curious--what keeps you coming back, Kombateers?

Remember when people were outraged over subzero's spine ripping fatality in mortal combat 1? Oh, if they could see us now!

So on the fence about this. I'm not really a fighting game guy at all but I loved MK9 and Injustice, and I figured this would be right up my alley. But, it seems kind of underwhelming.

Oh man, the game looks cool, I have played a few MKs to varying degrees, but once they started talking about the characters I started to glaze over. I had no idea what I was seeing or what/who they were talking about. Then the intricate game-play stuff I was lost as well. You guys know a-LOT about MK.

I feel like I will be completely lost. I know, I know MKs story is dumb, but that is a big reason for me to play, I'm not going to be playing against other people much.

Ok, I'll bite if you're not trolling. How is MKX not a good fighting game? SFV is not out yet, how are you already predicting it "won't get this kind of content"? Of course it'll get a Quick Look. Two trailers of SFV are posted here. You sound like you got a persecution complex.

Looks very, very good! It's great to see MK produce games on this level again. Hard to tell if this one's going to turn out as impressive as its predecessor but this QL alone was entertaining as all hell.
Surprisingly I also like the numerous new characters more than I neccessarily expect out of MK games at this point. Insect lady in particular seems like an outstanding addition. Cassie's x-ray and selfie fatality are early standouts as well. On that note: maaan, I'm such a sucker for these new x-rays and fatalities. That shit's crazy in the best possible way! I love ridiculous gore like that.

You really didn't address what he said, what you meant was you wish they liked only the same fighting games you like and as far as I can tell your prediction/assumption is completely without basis anyways. Jeff has always seemed like a pretty big fan of Street Fighter, I remember all the guys playing 4 a ton when it came out. SFIV got a live QL just like this game, every subsequent re-release got lots of coverage and its own QL, and the game popped up on more than a couple TnTs. SFIV got so many re-releases and minor updates that it got tiresome, this isn't a fighting game website, so their focus understandably drifted away, as it will with this game when its not the hot new thing.

Within 15 seconds Dan 'Pilkington' Ryckert blows my mind.

Is it just me, or is the video quality of the HD download kinda blocky? I suppose VLC might be scaling it weird, but it's been just fine with every other GB video I've watched...HD stream looks fine in the browser, I'll try redownloading I guess.

[Edit: seems fine when downloaded from the page; the HD RSS version seemed to be a lower-bitrate one that still played at 720. Just FYI if anyone else has this problem]

This looks awesome and it reminds me of how much I miss the crew sitting down, talking and playing a videogame. UPF is that but I like when they focus on one game. I guess what I'm saying is bring back TNT. YOU HAVE THE POWER.

I think Floejisan stomping Tay (and everyone else) was the highlight of this, though that last fight...

Jason's facial expressions and movements remind me of the guy whose skin was stolen by the alien in 'Men in Black'.
