Quick Look: Mount & Blade: Warband

since this is a Medieval simulator, would be cool if people actually used Medieval tactics

It looks interesting but I probably wouldn't pull myself away from Dragon Age: Origins for it.

I've put 45 hours into this game and it is worth every penny.

THIS LOOKS AMAZING

Mount and Blade is the best "ride around on a horse impaling dudes with a spear" simulator ever made.

this looks really great! never would have guessed by just watching it. Dave really sold it, the true power of quick looks!

It continues to drive me nuts when the GB staff refers to Empire: Total War as just Empire.

The best thing about Mount and Blade Warband and the original game is that you will always want to restart a new character so that you can do things differently and that you will never "complete" the game. 
 
The number of times I started a new game is near scary. The number of times i finished it is 0.

This game reminds me of Levio.

This was a great quick look! Dave showed off all I needed to see and now I think I'll end up buying it!

is the only improvement to this game multiplayer? or are there a lot of singleplayer changes?

I played over 50hrs of this game its great. Get this game you wont be disappointed.

It's so awesome to have a PC guy on your team and you do quick looks of small budget games (indie) !

I've known about this for some couple of yeas now, but I still haven't bought it :p And know, because of Dave, I finally bought it. 
 
Oh, and a giant pole in the back is probably the coolest thing I have ever seen!

Wait a second, does Dave even know you can couch lances in this game? Because unless they screwed around with that for Warband, that is a pretty fundamental feature of the game. Polearms are worthless without couching your lance. It's basically instant death to any dude! How do people not learn about or know how to play games anymore?

You have to press X to start couching so it's not as obvious as before "

30 dollars seems a bit much though

giant bomb you're on point lately.. i was really worried that the new ER business would put a stop to all the quicklooks we're accustomed to seeing, but you've churned out like 3 in the past day or two

I really like the PC quick looks. It's good having Dave and Mike with Vinny for extra comedy commentary.

oh wow, this looks actually quite fantastic, I'm almost buying it over steam, but the thing is that I'm sure it will run like crap on my laptop... I kinda gave up on pc gaming about 4 years ago...

Be warned this is really addictive.  According to Steam I have played the original Mount and Blade for over 90 hours.

Loved the first one, and back then always kept thinking how better it would be with multiplayer. Prayers have been answered. Need to pick this up on a Steam sale later on.

Excellent quick look for an excellent game :) I really should pick up Warband but i'm like 80 somethings hours into a heavily modded game in the original. Tempting sooo tempting

Something about this game is wonderful, awful but so wonderful. 

there's a huge following for this game, although i think the multiplayer component should of came w/ the origian mount & blade

This looks very intriguing. I hope something like this comes to XBLA.

Hell yeah! Best QL for quite some time, good fucking job explaining this interesting and unique but certainly very complex game, Dave. Also, the last battle had awesome commentary by you guys. Vinny laughing about the spear hit at about 23 minutes was priceless.
I last played M&B wenn it was still a free beta version years ago and liked it quite a bit. Maybe this is the time to give it another shot, significant changes for the better seem to have happened.

One more reminder why GiantBomb quickly became my favorite gaming website. Incredibly funny and much less focused on the usual stuff. Thanks!

The "Export Character" function is for when they released new builds of the game and save games wouldn't cross over. You'd have to do an export and import.
