Quick Look: Napoleon: Total War

I have recently been playing Rome total war and I am enjoying it so I might check this out.

I'd like to see GB do another Starcraft Beta QL where Mike is controlling things. Let the rest of the guys drink and talk, but let Mike steer the ship. He seems to have good RTS knowledge.

I just picked up the Emperor's Edtion. Holy shit SEGA went nuts with it.
There is now a 8' statue of Napoleon on my PC desk.!!
Have to wait for Win7 to arrive to install and play though....bugger

Hey guys is this new video player slower than the last one or im just being paranoid?

Is the quality lower? I can't tell for sure, but it looks slightly less sharp than the "high" setting on the old player.

New player isn't working for me. :(  (Play button doesn't seem to do anything)

is this like a new video player they are trying out....?

Impressive game, not really a compelling setting for me though. Much prefer my rts's with copious amounts of sci-fi ala Supreme Commander 2.

I like the new video player alot, its simple yet sophisticated......

The guy playing kind of sucks. Probably because hes in a rush and keeps fast forwarding every 10 seconds. 
 
I loved the last part though, "You should probably shoot those guys infront of you"

I laughed at "But it was close, though." on the first battle. The centaur comment was awesome. 
 
The damn Napoleon Special Forces part had me laughing to the point of tears though.

I'm digging the new player. Also, kudos for giving us the choice between streaming and progressive, I don't even mind leaving ABP disabled.
 
Alsoplustoo, "special guest Mike" sounds a bit like Tom Cruise.

The new video player is great.

Crap - The new player doesn't work for me. Clicking play in FF does nothing. And only spam-clicking in IE will doms omething - creating screenflickering. :S

Not like this

WhiskeyMedia needs to not reference external domains with core components of the site (Ads, media player, the javascript for the forum). It's fucking up with script blockers that's designed to protect the end-users.

ad block seems to cause the player not to work. I enabled mine and it stopped working, just flickered.
 
disabled it again and it work, so like someone else said disable that.

New Player works just fine for me...
 
Who is Mike?

Just noticed another issue: Full screen doesn't add a buffer to the sides or the top to keep the aspect ratio. I have a square monitor and it's forcing the widescreen video to display in a square window >_>

I think I narrowed the problem down a bit. I had to allow googleadservices.com, but Adblock is still active and working.

The fight in town square looked awesome! "Look to the east" - "Oh, nooo. it's not Gandalf" but an ocean of infantry instead :D
I'd really liked to see a little cannon close combat but oh well, you can't have everything....

What is up the size of this game. This game looks like it requires insane micro to achieve any sort of victory. Really makes you wonder how any of the generals of history could do it, what with all the screaming and cannons.  
 
Digging the new player too. Looks sleek, offers both choices of stream type and is still quick enough to never stutter. 

What's the difference between "streaming" and "progressive"?
