Quick Look: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

Yep... it's a Hot Pursuit game alright. In fact this is more of a Hot Pursuit game than Paradise was a Burnout game.

Loved the demo, will definitely pick this up but not until the new year probably. I really wanted Jeff to show off that turbo because how hyped he seemed about it made me get excited.

Played this some tonight. This game feels like Need for Speed and Burnout had a baby. The Hot Pursuit mode is my favorite so far, with the time challenges coming in last, but that's a preference thing. If you are a fan of Burnout I would totally recommend this. Playing as a cop brings back that immense satisfaction of take downs from Burnout Revenge.

I have to admit... he DID stop that shit.

I dunno why exactly but I didn't think the demo looked good and I pretty much hated how the cars felt. Maybe I just haven't played a Need for Speed game for a while but for most of the cars you drive seem to steer like that airship in Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers, holding a direction hopelessly whilst understeering along walls; or doing a Ride Racer drift. I'm surprised no one else seems bothered by it. I actually loved Forza Motorsport 2 & 3, Dirt 1 & 2, Blur and Burnout Paradise. Just gonna have to wait for Dirt 3 I suppose for my racing fix.

So they are really pushing that people who own the game try and force their friends to get it.

Well many of the cars in the game actually have speed sensitive volume control where the audio will get louder the faster you are moving. I doubt that's what they were explicitly going for, but it would be a nice touch in the more sim-like racing games. "

Previous to this quick look I've pretty much ignored this game entirely... but that looked pretty damn cool.

The original Hot Pursuit is probably the last NFS game I've played, and I really liked it.
Have kept up with the Burnout games though, so I have high hopes for this.
It looks good and the reviews have been good as well, it'll have to go on the backburner though.. too many games to play as it is..

I've never played Paradise. What did the game do with the camera that's so cool?

there was never any customization in all previous NFS Hot Pursuit games

The graphics look great I love the style they have used for the menu's and it looks epic when a helicopter swings over the top half of your screen. Probably going to buy this at the end of the week.

This looks effing awesome. I'm kinda on the fence now, might buy it.

Reminds me a lot of the first Burnout. If only it had all the crash missions those were freaking awesome. I don't remember if that was in the first or second Burnout game, but man they were so awesome.

Seacrest county? Looks a lot more like Palm Bay Heights to me :)  
 
Really interested in this game, Criterion have made some of my favourite games of all time.

OMG! Why the rear view mirror has no textures?

Looks fun, might have to pick this up. Demo didn't really blow me away though.

Like the set track path in races, hated that I at to keeping looking at a bloody map in Burnout: Paradise. A game I grew to really dislike.

I'd love to know what city in this day and age can afford Bugatti Veyron's for its police force? 

Looks kinda cool and has a little bit of Ridge Racer vibe going on (the old ones).
 
No splitscreen for this is a HUGE bummer though. Therefore I may only rent it or but it used later on ... if I ever get it.

The Burnout games have been sort of like a music-game to me, since Burnout 3. The music just blends so well with the racing.

Something to watch before I head to work :).

Downloading the QL now, so I have something to watch during lunch. Can't wait to actually play the game.

Game seems pretty shallow if you don't have a bunch of friends who are super in to it.

Definitely getting this game.
