Quick Look: Nintendo Land

At 27 I think I'm 20 years to old for this.plus being married I don't want people around all the time to play multiplayer. Anyone else feel this console isn't made for them?

I will likely never own this game but that music is already seared into my brain for the rest of time.

My point is they use them too much as it is. The fact this is the "new big thing" to show off the Wii U makes me not want it in the slightest. They've shown off some other games but again, nothing that we haven't really seen before.

They don't necessarily need to lean on those IPs to sell - look at Wii Sports

Touche, but when you think of Wii isn't that the only thing you think of? Wii [noun], the new hit party game! I've had multiple people tell me they only bought nintendo games because of the branding. "If mario wasn't on it i wouldn't have cared at all" they say. That's what gets to me. People stop looking at the games own merits and look at the branding, so much so that the branding is now what puts people like me off.

Thats not to say other companies are better, but people need to stop trumpeting nintendo when they are the people who proved you can get away with putting out the same game multiple times.

Not hyped at all for this console, how about U? And, the second screen looks pointless as of now. Then again, I'm not brave enough to claim Nintendo has failed already. Looks idiotic though.

Yeah, I have the same issue. Although, admittedly, the couple single player games they showed (Yoshi/Balloon Trip) look really good too.

There's just such a refreshing amount of COLOUR in this game. It's looks fantastic.

It's nice to see Nintendo's art in high resolution. The game really looks great, despite not being the most technical achievement.

Proficient, I'll give it that.

Surprised at just how fun this looks.

The center of the screen is gyrating wildly. And the colors look waaaaaay fucked up.

And I thought New Super Mario Bros. U looked boring. It does look pretty, though.

The Zelda game looks like a reskinned version of one of the sword games in Wii Sports Resort. Only now 4 people can play. And one can shoot arrows.

It makes me want a proper 4 Swords on Wii U though. And 3 friends to play it with...

Not gonna fall for the hype and buy it day 1 like the Wii. Thing has been in my closet for years and the whole WiiU system feels like what Jeff was saying while playing this game, playing everything once and saying I'm never going to do this again. I look forward to picking a WiiU up in 3-4 years when everything is much cheaper and I don't feel bad buying a gimmicky system.

Seriously though, I don't think Nintendo consoles really can be held to the same generations as the rest of the stuff since they seem to just be technically about 6 years behind and then are just way off doing their own thing in other ways (which either works awesomely or is terrible).

What defines a new generation is not, necessarily, measured by technical capability. It's a new console that has a new concept and games that cannot be played on the previous home system. Thus, it is a next-generation console regardless of it's power, and that is that.

I agree with that for the most part. I was just making the point that I don't think the current releases of consoles stick to the old way of their being a single shared generation across all companies and manufacturers. It is the next-gen Wii certainly. I just think the video game space has moved past having a uniform next-generation that begins with and includes all consoles simultaneously, like it did in the olden days.

Mario Chase, and Luigi´s Mansion looks really fun for multiplayer. And Ballon Trip looks good as well

I'm impressed with this minigame collection. It looks about 100 million times more fun than Wii sports was.

The competitive stuff seems great.

Looks really fun. The Luigi's Mansion one alone sells me on Nintendoland. It will be great when I have a couple of friends over and we can hot-potato the controller around.
