Quick Look: Portal 2: Perpetual Testing Initiative

Wow, gotta say I love how simple the editor is. Ive really never made anything (or finished i prob should say) in a editor before but recall them being clunky, and unintuitive. Esp in 3d. Love that the editor is not in game.

Man, I am really glad you guys did a quick look for this. Otherwise, I probably never would have known about the sale Steam has going on right now to celebrate the release of the editor. A little over 8 bucks for it and the first game is a crazy good deal.

I think this is now the third time a GB quick look got me to buy a game.

Hope this comes to PS3 at some point, what was the point of putting steamworks on there if we can't access this stuff

First few years? It came out April last year. 13 months. They've released additional content since. I've been playing inconsistently all year. Also it's so good it's hard to uninstall it if I don't have to.

Interesting. Now, if only I was even remotely interested in anything Portal/Valve.

Lucky me who just purchased Portal 2 on the sale.  This looks sophisticated yet simple enough to use. Unfortunately, it will have to wait for now as Diablo 3 is just around the corner.

It's nice to see they made this a lot more user-friendly for both the creators and the players. No more going to mod sites and messing around in your steam directory to play custom maps.

@PurpleSpandex: I meant that the creation tools were interesting, while I don't find the game to be interesting, nor the games that generally come out of that specific company. Thanks for immediately resorting to name calling.

I was clearly generalizing and not talking just about Portal 2.

I reinstalled it for Peer Review. What about people who don't care for the co-op? I'm not interested in challenge missions nor creating my own levels, and I can just wait a few years and play the best user-created levels out there.

Additionally, I don't have a hard drive space issue, but I'm sure many people still do.

Did anyone else get a weird optical effect regarding 3d perspectives in 2d? On occasion due to the shading it looked like the far back internal corner was a front external corner, making the empty box rooms at the start look trapezoidal. This is well known with optical illusions but not something I usually suffer from in games.

I think I might actually make some Portal levels tonight!

I then went on to talk about Cave Johnson the ending of portal and my hope for some of the levels to be ported.
