Quick Look: PowerUp Heroes

Totally agree with Ryan's concept of implementing this into an awesome RPG. That would get me into turn-based shit all over again.

@Canteu: I assume that all Kinect videos, as in the output from the Xbox to the TV, is flipped so that when you are playing the Kinect you see yourself as if you were looking in a mirror. Because if the Kinect showed you what it was looking at, you'd be on the other side of the TV. I imagine Giantbomb flips the video to match what we see from the Kinect.

Though I've never used a Kinect, so that's just an assumption.

Other than not understanding the cooldown on the minifireballs, Jeff was pretty savage at this game.

This seems to be quite a good game.

Of course, I don't think I would pay money for it. But it also is rather for parents and a young audience (6-12 year olds?). Also, always keep in mind, people, this is STILL a very 'new' technology. Kinect tech is in it's baby years and will hopefully evolve, as the games will over the years to come. That is, if people are willing to buy those - unlike me.

(I wanted to blog about the tech on GB, but there are already fine introductions on the web & also articles. The Kinect SDK is freely availableand Microsoft is even throwing money & free office space at Kinect developers, if you think, you have what it takes.)

This actual seems like a pretty cool Kinect game. I'm pleasantly surprised.

They're FINALLY doing something besides making you watch your avatars watch TV/movies... and they taint it by making you use Kinnect.

This game is the future. The game to end all wars. If Star Trek has taught me anything, it's that world leaders will soonsquare off in PowerUp Heroes kinect (amazon EUR 29,95 EUR 17,97) instead of leading their armies into battle, killing millions. THIS is modern warfare. Yet Ryan gives it an emphatic "meh". Round one will be Netanjahu vs Putin

First game so far in this bevvy of QL's which actually seems to have had some thought put into it. It's a kids game, but at least it is inventive.

OK, there is something awesome about fireballing your roommate...maybe after a few drinks. I could see myself picking this up later.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't hear an Altered Beast reference anywhere. I'm disappointed.

Yeah, Ubisoft already stole the church background and the soulnado for this game, so it seems like the only logical place to go!

This game looks awesome. When is Marvel going to wise up and start commissioning some Kinect games for their super heroes?

I'm pretty impressed with Ubisoft's ability to craft a decent fighting game system as well. Wow.

Scorch was just a complete ripoff of Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. Netherrealm should take legal action.

Other than that character ripoff, this game (PowerUp Heroes) actually looks kind of cool. If I had a Kinect for some reason (I don't), I'd probably get this over most of the other games on it.

Mascot head Johnny Gat deserves his own Saints Row spin off game.

Probably the first conceptually interesting Kinect game so far, I can see this actually getting good in sequels.

No one may know what I'm talking about, but the menu music for this reminds me a lot of the 1996 Incredible Hulk cartoon theme.

I imagine this is almost like a series of snuff vids leading to Ryan having a heart attack at the end.

Some day Ryan is going to realize that the reason he has trouble is because he is not very good at playing video games. Jeff on the other hand is much better.

You know what... if they get the kinks out in the next version, this game would be pretty fun. Looked okay, some typical kinect jank, but a pretty cool concept.

Neat idea. Despite generally being a Kinect skeptic, I'm pro-this.
