Quick Look: Primordia

I actually like the idea of the "Use X on Y" where x and y depends on which item you have selected. It actually makes you think of what your doing, and prevent mindless clicking. Adventure games are way to simple, I can appreciate a little bit more complexity

This reminds me of Beneath a Steel Sky, one of my fave point n click's in a good way. A warm and fuzzy way.

It's weird how they skip all the dialogue, look for a walkthrough, and then say "I like adventure games."

I really love the artstyle, overall style, voice acting, setting and pretty much everything about it. Too bad I don't like the traditional style pointing & clicking so basically all of the gameplay...

Probably worth a buy during a steam sale or something.

I am loving, just LOVING the Giger-esque art style.

Also, I can't help but think of this:

I hate adventure games, but the premise of this seems so neat I kind of want to check it out.

Vinny said that when he plays it by himself he's going to listen to all the dialogue...they just skipped a bit to get the Quick Look moving along dude.

I sped through the opening sections of this game earlier so that I'd be able to watch this QL without spoiling the puzzles for myself. Prior to playing, I wasn't completely sold on the art style and I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it, since I've stalled in the middle of playing my last couple of adventure games. So far, though, I'm really liking it. It's not quite at Grim Fandango levels of snappy environment-based dialogue, but it's well capable of raising a smile or two. The main duo are likeable, the art direction gives the world a great feel and the premise is clever. In particular, Horatio's response to seeing the 'endoskeleton' has some cool connotations.

I've only played about 15 minutes of Gemini Rue at this stage, having just started that the other night too, but so far this game has a more compelling opening setup. The voice acting, at least, is much better than it is in GR.

Abe Goldfarb plays another floating adventure game sidekick. I guess it's his niche.

I've played about four hours of the game and there is at least one instance where you need to write down details of a puzzle, so that kind of thing is in here. I'm really enjoying it, but then this is the kind of game I love.

The tone of the banter really conflicts with the art and setting in a weird way, but I'll be picking this up just to see where the plot goes.

Game is fantastic! Roughly 2 hours in. I did have to check a walk-through a couple times since I was confused on the objective/didn't pixel hunt hard enough, but nothing major. The story is starting to open up and I'm reeeeally into where it's going. I dig Crispy's banter as well, so that's a plus for me :D

In the future snarky people on the internet will be replaced by actual snarky robots.

I just wish that Logan's voice wasn't so similar to Rucks in Bastion. Unless Logan doesn't have much of a range as a voice actor and/or that's what the devs wanted anyway. Sad because it's the one thing that sticks out to me. The voice of Crispin is also a past Wadjet Eye voice (he was in Gemini Rue at least) but the writing and delivery is fresh enough that I'm loving his character. Haratio just feels too much like it's a Logan in a booth rather than the character. Then again, there were some spots where the character worked just fine so maybe it's a question of getting used to it. That or it's doomed to be an inconsistent experience for me.

anyone catch the dialogue in the game where he says "giant bomb"? that's in a few games. feels deliberate

My immediate thought: Beneath a Steel Sky.

I'm not into adventure games but I should at least watch this on YouTube or something. The art really appeals to me. The zany robots, not so much, but the premise is cool. I'd be interested to see where the story goes.

I agree, but to be fair, Rucks' accent was way thicker than Horatio's. They both sound gritty and the general tone of the voice is the same, but then again it does fit the character here and goes well with the dystopiab surroundings. There's some sound design stuff going on, to make him sound robotic I suppose, that's making the voice sound way deeper than it actually is.

I don't think I have the patience for this kind of adventure game anymore.

Reminds me of Beneath a Steel Sky with the brownness and the snarky robot sidekick built by the main character.

This game seems pretty cool, potentially, but the amount of pixel-hunting in this quick look was savage. I don't know if I should encourage that kind of design with a purchase.

I feel like if they are going to make it low rez, they should throw a stylized filter on it like in Lone Survivor, I'd like to play this game but I know without a button to highlight what is clickable I'd miss something that blends in and just get frustrated and stop playing.

That is an fantastic art style. Really digging the look of this game.

Too bad I hate point and click adventure games with burning fiery passion.

I didn't like how they went through the game like they hated it.

I immediately went and bought this game and now I'm up way to late, thanks giant bomb!

I'm not super into these point and clickers. The stories can seem pretty fun but they're kind of slow and it always sucks when you get stuck. That said if I were to play another one it would probably be this, I liked Machinarium so I guess I'm into postapocalyptic worlds starring robots.
